Utd is a different side to when we played them. Arsenal in the cup so doesn’t really count.

Counter with Fulham, Brentford, Villa, Forest, Charlton, Arsenal (H) - we are probably where we deserve to be but a long way to go
I'll counter that with the fact that RDZ was, and still is, a very new manager at the Albion. He took over a decent side but he's still finding his feet. Most people are spotting a consistent, albeit non linear, and steady improvement.

Arsenal defeat was primarily down to a couple of individual rickets. We weren't outplayed by the run away league leaders.

At the End of last season we stayed and lapped it up after the West Ham game, was this peak Albion? After the previous 40 years, yes it was. Would/Could it possibly get any better fr little ole Brighton?

How little we knew.

What ever happens against Liverpool, it should be a good game. We certainly have a better midfield then them.

Both Potter and De Zerbi have shown us what a real intelligent and tactical manager is. So many are either just coaches or one trick ponies. Even the premier League is filled with one plan men - Conte, Rogers, Vieira, Moyes etc.
Watching New-saudi-castle yesterday I think you can add Smug Ted to that list.

And missing two of our best players in midfield, who happen to be two of the PL's best midfielders. Yet still gave them a hell of a game.

I'm certain I'm not the only one continually pinching myself...
Mustafa whilst I agree with you just playing Devils Advocate here, do you think we’d still be saying this without the change of manager, or has Roberto slightly tweaked things to move up to the next level?

Obviously the enhanced confidence and kudos of having a World Cup winner in the dressing room clearly adds to the mix, but would Potter’s Albion have destroyed Everton and spanked Boro yesterday? (Or lost on pens to a Div 3 team 🙈, although big shout out to RDZ for publicly stating he'd lost sleep over the Charlton result and it still hurt)

If looks like RDZ wants the players to be fearless and positive and I think you can forgive some of us fans for being sucked into that. The reality is that the results aren't that different to G-Pott. I'll be happy not being relegated but delighted with the current displays.

1. Agree with pretty much all posts on this thread. Been watching since mid 70s and this is the best team we've had in that time.
2. The Arsenal game. We weren't humbled by them. We played them without two key midfielders.
3. To cite the cup game and two recent aways as no evidence is dismissing the annihilation of Chelsea, 3-3 at Anfield. Neither a guarantee for next week but I suspect more fans go into that game believing we have a great chance of a win.
4. With the team doing so well I still struggle to understand why some consider sacrificing watching this team and giving up a Season Ticket because it takes a bit longer to get home!

Dial the self importance down fella. It was a joke. People do them on here all the time, so you may as well get used to it.
Lol - and you took the bait didnt you - the original poster made his post all about a typo in my post, no mention of any other great points made on this thread, and you typically, never responding positively or engaging in a good way with any of my posts since I joined the forum, jump in yet again with your passive aggressive ‘likes’ every time someone points out an error in my posts or someone trolls my posts. Everyone argues all the time here and debates issues, too and have differences of opinion and makes jokes as do I so that is not the issue.

Brighton are doing fantastically at the moment and I like many others are having a great time watching them and it’s thrilling to see most people getting a high about that, as I was - Nothing to do with ‘self-importance - I merely pointed out that there are more positive and happy things to talk about especially on a thread like this. But my real issue is with your behaviour towards me so let go, ‘fella!’

Huge difference between now and my two promotion sessions (note sessions as in 3 or 4 seasons of trying). 1977/79 and 2015/17 we were good and expected to win all away games as we were the big team in the second tier. There was dissapointment at losing a game rather than joy of winning. Now we are a medium team in the big league and winning is fun but losing is accepted.

I live in Portland, Maine, a medium sized town in the North-East corner of the U.S. For the Arsenal game I wasn't able to watch in my usual bar, so went to an Irish pub downtown. Inside were five young men in their 20s who had decided that Brighton were their Premier League team, and had fully bought into the experience. They knew all the players, phrases like 'Little Old Brighton', talked about 'us', and were just as passionately watching the game as I was. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the club. Having lived here for nearly 30 years it feels a little strange to no longer be the only Brighton fan in town, to be honest, but it shows how far we've come and how much our style of football is appreciated and enjoyed everywhere.
You had 4 other Brighton fans in your town for about 30 mins this summer! Was holidaying up in the Penobscot (right next to Fort Knox) in the summer. On the way back to Boston thought we were staying at a hotel in Portland. On arriving to the hotel, turns out we had booked Portsmouth in New Hampshire! Your town looked nice, and have to say unlike it’s English name sake, Portsmouth was pleasant too! Loved Maine, a beautiful state .

six feet beneath the moon...
yes quite obviously the best Albion side ever. don't like all this 'ceiling' talk though, or the suggestion that it's going to all come crashing down. clearly the older generation of fans have seen this happen, but for me the entire point of this project is to get the club in a position where we're never too far away from getting it right again. that's always the thing with the top clubs, they can be beyond dire but a couple of changes here and there and they'll be right back to where they were. that's kind of the stage we need to get to, not on the same level, but at the very least a level where if we were to get relegated we'd have the foundation to stay afloat in the championship and look to get back up, rather than tumbling through the leagues like last time. I also don't think this brilliant team has peaked yet either, there are still ways we can improve

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
The only player from previous generations who would improve this team would be Lawrenson.

Anyway, this team is incredible. We will probably never see this level again. I'm praying we win a trophy and make Europe in the next 2 or 3 years because this ought to be our time. If not now, then when? Football is cyclical and we will be shit again one day as sure as night follows day.
Yes we will be shit again, but the current (relative) success is down to Bloom, and he's not leaving, so although I appreciate we could turn shit any day, it's also possible we could continue our current form for more than a few years.

Not that I'd expect to either reach Europe or win a cup though, there are just too many (7) teams with buckets of cash.

Just waiting for the Alfa to let us down at a crucial moment :lolol:

De Zerbi’s Team of 2022/3 I think will find a special place in our collective memory as one of the best squads of all time - highest ever in the modern top flight, 7 WC players, explosion of talented youngsters, an unbelievable 25 goals in 9 games and for the first time in its modern history in reach of European football.

Even if it doesn’t last more than a season at this level, i think the 2022/3 season will be remembered like the other great club memories: the win over Chelsea when PG returned to the Amex, the win over Manure at the end of 2021/22. The win against Palace in February 1976 and shouting ‘Seagulls’ back at them. Mullery’s team of 1978/9 and Promotion to the First Division on 5th May with a win over Newcastle, the FA Cup Final replay in May 1983 (my Birthday!) …. So many great moments and periods in our history
Yes, except the FA cup final replay was not a great club memory (I expect 5 people have already mentioned this, so apologies in advance)

Yep, a great team playing great football.

Some of us older folk (well, perhaps only me) used to slightly balk at threads like this and the tendency to think that history only began at Hereford. We had a very good team in the late 70s and early 80s including players like Ward, Robinson, Case and Lawrenson (who, just like Cucu was the most expensive defender in the world when we sold him to Liverpool) playing in front of 20 -30,000 (sometimes more and, yes, under Bailey less) and getting to a Cup Final and finishing 13th in the top division.

But the truth is the current crop blow them out of the water. Better players playing more attractive football and with a reasonable shot at Europe. It genuinely is the stuff of dreams.
I agree that we had a very good team in the late 70's, but once we reached D1 we did struggle to stay up in all but bar one season, and the side containing Robinson and Case got us relegated after an awful league campaign.

You have to be shitting me. I've gone into pubs in Brighton with fewer Brighton fans.

Among the things i'm enjoying about being a Brighton fan this season are the conveyor belt of players emerging into the first team this season and how much neutrals love us. And it's all down to a solid strategy consistently applied by top quality personnel thoughout the club at all levels on and off the pitch

Yeah this is absolutely the best team/football I have ever seen from the Albion.
Enjoy it whilst you can it won't be around forever.

I think there is a chance that De Zerbi will start to get found out, later in the season and next year we may not be so effective.
It takes the Premier League a while to adapt to a new manager.

Vieira was getting plenty of praise last season and now the Vieira Out sentiment is starting to form for our friends up the road.

De Zerbi is a different class to PV and I suspect he will adapt much better, but this moment in time may well be the peak.T
That's an annoyingly good point
