How many people on here are coming down for the game who don’t expect to get home before Big Ben strikes taking us into 2023

I was speaking to a guy yesterday who says that a lot of bus drivers have put in for the day off on NYE so he thought there may be issues with the P&R busses availability and with train reduced services it could be interesting getting home.

It seems we are now served with these horrendous KO times annually. For me, 5.30pm is not quite as bad as 8pm on Boxing Day last year, but neither is in anyway attractive.
One mainly for BHAFC local fans and the huge number of AFC fans that live locally, I'd have thought. At least there are public transport options available, unlike that genuine Boxing Day shitshow last year

Seagull Travel booked as soon as the kick of time was confirmed. Not ideal but makes sure I get home at a reasonable time. Not miserable about the football, more that I can't stand New Years Eve and all the total bollocks that surrounds it but I'm sure the annual thread on that topic will appear next week

A 5:30 kick-off very probably means not being back in Worthing until gone 9pm. On a regular Saturday that is fine, but not on NYE, so I'll also be watching from the sofa before heading out for the evening.

I very much doubt I shall be partaking. A local barstool beckons for the game, then arriving home shortly after for a pre-ordered curry, some Christmas grog, and the tellybox. Soon followed by that warm feeling of infinite relief that I am NOT trapped in a horrendous queue at gawd knows what time trying to battle my arse back from the Amex to my comfortable armchair.

Well, I'm going to humbug your humbug. Haven't been out for NYE (apart from a particularly poor school parents' party one year) in donks. Pubs are overpriced and absolutely full of the sort of nob ends who can't handle their booze and drugs that most complain about at London away games. Routine for a while now has been cook something really decent, open a nice wine and watch Jools, sometimes with kids and sometimes without.

This will give me an excuse to go to the pub earlier when it's calmer and have a happy new year pint with a couple of mates on the concourse, bit of football, shenanigans call for going home with no "when are you getting back" texts from her indoors and likely to be home just in time for Jools to start and get a nice, mellow, warming Aussie Shiraz on the go with some snacks.

Bring. It. On.

As our Commander In Chief you should be setting an example and actively encouraging your troops to go to games, not sitting at home on your arse!

Mehh.. according to ze internetz, going on the Picadelly Line-stuff to Heathrow takes 45 minutes, then the flight takes 2 hours, then my train from Copenhagen takes like 50 minutes... with small margins and no unexpected delays I could be home before midnight!

Nah
:lolol:

Well, APART from getting to Heathrow from Brighton, taking three hours to clear security and passports, the delay while the single working baggage handler finds all those bags and the time difference......

Nah, you're alright, got a party to go to, won't watching, will have occasional snoops at my phone to keep up with how many Arsenal score.
