A 10 game ban for using a ticket with someone else's name on it??

What am I missing here?

I have obviously missed that thread. I will have a read.

Have to be honest - this seems INCREDIBLY heavy handed reading through his tweets and obviously hearing only one side. I would have thought losing some loyalty points would have been sufficient. A little part of my Albion mojo dies when I hear things like this although again I'm aware we only have one side of the story.

Feel sorry for the bloke but he's given his teenage sons access to his account I assume.

Can't blame the club for this.

Agree 10 game ban is harsh, but agree with a loyalty point deduction.

What could have happened is that he is on his son's Friends and Family? We can buy tickets and assign them to those people, with all the tickets received together. In those circumstances this seems harsh, because the Friends and Family system means a ticket can be bought in your name without you ever knowing about it.

Of course if his son used his actual account to buy it then the club can't differentiate that and has no choice under their rules.

I’ll be that guy then…….

If they let him off, every single fan who gets caught will use the same excuse. Are they also now going to ban the sons for 10 games as well since the Dad has grassed them up?
In the Twitter thread, the Dad says that the club offered to transfer the punishment to his son but the Dad declined the offer.

Surely a zoom ticket awareness course, and two game relocation to the east stand would have adequate punishment
'Ticket awareness course' :lolol::lolol:

Agree with the poster who says every time they hear a story like this part of their albion mojo dies a little. (Soon to be resurrected by a good performance of course). Yes I know Rules are Rules. Yes I know he broke them and thus Deserves To Be Punished, but jeez, talk about OTT. I personally think the rules are heavy-handed, cumbersome and stupid and stories like this just confirm that view. I know others will disagree.

Brighton factually.....
No doubt the girlfriend ended up getting arrested, being drunk and disorderly and unpleasant to those around her as the club likes to spin these things.
You do our youth an injustice, don’t judge them by our standards
she possibly quite simply just took a selfie sat in his seat and posted on instagram or Tik Tokyo
”Respect to Silly Son for letting me use Silly Sons Dads (AKA Lardy) ticket #ComeonChelsea”

Apparently, the ‘dickhead’ count at away matches is down considerably due to these rules. And guess what, the ‘dickheads’ are usually teens. Imagine getting your old man a ban like that and making him take it!

Barber spoke about our away fans starting to get a ‘reputation’ at other clubs on the roar. He has decided to make an example of people breaking the rules. This might shock some people but if he is achieving his aim, I can see the thinking behind it. Hopefully, the punishments can be reduced once the away ticket-cheats have been culled enough.

Fair enough that this is punished, maybe just the 50-point reduction though, that could even be increased, don't see the need for the significant home ban.

Surely not access to his account but his son has him added as Friends or Family and allocated the ticket to him at check out.

Heard of another very loyal fan that hadn’t missed a home or away match for ages but got covid so passed his ticket on as didn’t want the money to be wasted. Person he passed on to got ID checked and obviously got sussed. No home games until Spring for him. Very harsh but that’s the rules.

Do think maybe first offence is a big points reduction rather than being banned from home games.

The crime does not fit the punishment. Nowhere near.

But the punishment does fit the problem the club are having with too many coked up dickheads at away matches and not enough decent and deserving fans able to grab the tickets.

The club are currently making an example of rule breakers in order to solve the problem. Therefore, the club needs the rule breakers to squeal all over social media and for site owners of chat rooms to start threads about the issue. This particular thread needs to be as long as possible and consistently at the top of NSC’s big board.

I’m sure the club are thankful to everyone publicising their draconian punishment (which will surely be taken away once the dickhead count lowers).
