that is the strangest thing about it for me.

how many millions will vote for this omnishambles? what would the tories have to do???
I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle.

Like Truss going, or a football manager.

It's the total lack of credible replacements or alternatives. Nobody really wants a Labour lead, Union backed leadership. we'll all be out on strike all the time.

We’re getting strikes with this government. Off the top of my head I can think of train strikes, postal and barristers, I’m sure there has been more.

Starmer seems to be a much safer bet than the “talentless”* group we have at the moment.

Let's not forget the amazing contribution of the **********. He was gifted a whopping majority and instead of running with that, he was allowed or possibly encouraged to blow it. Fair play to Thick Lizzie for being brave enough to clear the mess up but it is far beyond her abilities which look, quite frankly, nominal.

A party that has gone from hero (with that majority) to less than zero. Bravo ERG and ********** as Thick Lizzie will get all the blame.
I'm assuming @Bozza has blocked bungle****, and in one fell swoop he has undone all his hard work over the last few days making NSC as good as it is. I'm not angry, just disappointed.

I put one word in the swear filter and I've just noticed people are circumnavigating that.

If you want to chip in a few thousand quid a year to keep NSC going, I can reinstate it.

many Conservative Party members and MPs are no longer a centre right instead they are verging on become what’s being dubbed neo-liberal which is a new name for fascism and the resulting battle for the sole of Conservatism
only by those that want to lazily cast it as evil without thought. neoliberalism is about free trade, open markets, deregulation. facism is about centralised authority, oppression, protectionist and nationalism. one is economic freedoms, one is social controls. the tenents of facism block the tenents of neoliberalism.

I'm only pulling your leg. Honestly, the new set up is marvellous, and if I could chuck money at it/you I would.

Im afraid the tories are the ultimate unflushable turd. I think they will easily outperform the polls, as there are plenty out there who are small minded xenophobes, and plenty more who lack the ability to carry out even the most basic critical analysis before choosing to vote tory. They'll lose, but total wipe out is too much to hope for
and obviously, a lot of them are too ashamed of themselves to admit it, the patriots!

Clearly Liz Truss cannot carry on. The problem is if another conservative leader and therefore Prime Minister is installed there is potential to be back in this position again where for the 3rd time in less than a year the government is collapsing and can't function.
I think for the sake of future stability in the country a general election is needed so that at least the governing party would have a mandate from the electorate.
I am not saying this because I support one party or another, just that this situation cannot be allowed to carry on.

And this whole shambles has reaffirmed my view that it makes ZERO SENSE when people say they 'have' a political party.

In one week, the leader has COMPLETELY switched what she stands for, yet you will still have some people say "I'm a tory supporter".

What!? How does that work. You support the party no matter their policy? Madness.

Doubt she'll last beyond the end of the day now, maybe not even til lunchtime :bigwave:
Agree. Momentum appears to be building after last night's shambles. Several new calls for resignation this morning already, and 1922 committee members openly talking about the "odds are against" Truss surviving the day.

Hadn’t seen that, I rarely watch ITN unless Mary N is presenting because I cannot stand the ‘amateur dramatics’ Tom Bradley and Charlene White employ to convey stories. However, tonight he’s probably spot on, unorthodox as it was. What a sorry mess we’re in. Precisely the sort of turmoil and utter incompetence where, in other countries, a coup occurs and suddenly some extremist party emerges to grab power. Is it such a stretch to think revolution can’t happen here? We have the smallest army in our history these days, Police has been cut to the bone. Civil disorder is going to happen on an unprecedented scale soon enough, forget 2011, it’ll be more like the Gordon Riots and might very possibly topple authorities. Anarchy basically. I know we’re all laughing at, with hundreds memes doing the rounds etc, but these are dangerous times. Very serious consequences, happening now or have happened already and I bet many not realised or we can’t remotely be aware of yet. It seems there’s nothing and nobody waiting in the wings either. Everyone’s looking inwardly to save themselves, pulling up drawbridges at the very moment we all need to be working together in unity, looking out for each other and so forth. Over many years I’ve repeatedly talked about the perfect storm we’re heading towards and the threat to life on an unimaginable scale. It’s started, it’s all symptomatic-of and far worse is to come. And I don’t mean Keir Starmer! ;)
indeed, the tory party's politics of division has brought us down this path, let's hope we never forget
