In response to Steve Baker’s views on governments post 1911.
I suspect it’s all part of the plan to revert the UK to pre 1911 living conditions. They have made a good start.

Starmer is a such a sarcastic dick head, look forward to seeing he copes as PM which looks inevitable. Zero confidence in him personally, unpleasant smug man always sniping and no redeeming features at all imo.

I am not a fan of Liz Truss btw.

Rock and a hard place
You know that someone writes the questions for him do you? The aim of PMQs seems to be to score political points and this was the case long before Starmer. Outside of this, he doesn't come across as sarcastic or smug, but someone who is hard working, rule abiding, and earnest almost to a fault.

His script writer(s) is/are sarcastic and unpleasant, but then a lot of joke writers can be. Its in the nature of the work. Personally, I think he's been given some good lines recently, but his delivery is not always convincing, mainly because his natural character is really the opposite of what you suggest.

As someone who has met him a couple of times during work, I would agree with your assessment.

Rock and a hard place? What a ridiculous conclusion to draw. What has he done that's so unpleasant then? You need to look at the bigger picture here - this government have been absolutely disgusting.

They've had 12 f***ing YEARS and I can't think of a single achievement they can be proud of in that time. Not. One.

We have more foodbanks than McDonalds. They weren't even a thing in 2010.
We have a rump of working people who cannot afford to live because their wages haven't kept up with cost of living increases.
Our international standing is at an all time low
Crime rates are high, so is homelessness.
We have a decimated NHS. I simply cannot get an appointment at my surgery. I've given up, I use the duty doctor at East Surrey hospital.
Tax has never been higher
Cronyism and corruption has been starkly terrible
Oh and Suella Braverman is busy removing your rights to protest as we speak.

From a personal point of view, I'm taxed heavier than ever, and my two eldest have had to pay their way through university - at a cost of £65,000 over the past 4 years. A cost that was previously borne by the state. So in terms of income alone, I'd say that my immediate family are around £120k worse off than we were in 2010, and that's before the cost of this shithouse Brexit and a cost of living crisis this government partly induced and has no idea how to resolve.

If the Tories are in power ever again, it'll be 20 billion years too soon.

But then again, self-made state-educated Keir Starmer sounds a bit smug during PMQ, so now I just don't know what to think.

Conclusions can only be drawn once he’s had a few months in power. I am not going to argue with anything you say about the Tories but what I’ve seen of Starmer does not inspire me in the least. Best I can come up with is that he doesn’t seem to be a crook, which will make a change.

Maybe a charisma free hardworking PM is just what we need but as I said before he talks the talk let’s see what he does when he has to walk the walk.

I have no doubts it will happen and I would love to be proved wrong but he does not inspire anything but dislike from me at the moment

Totally agree…… but you’ll be dismissed as a member of the anti-growth coalition!

Starmer has a record of making a good job of things he has done in the past - Director of Public Prosecautions, for example.

Any word on why the “special advisor” has been suspended? Maybe gross incompetence because his advise is terrible?

he looks like a safe pair of hand, how will he manage the tough job of increasing taxes?

LOL. Tory bloke doesn't like Labour leader - shock!

I bet you're not! She's absolutely trashing what's left of the Tory's reputation.
