Found the removal of the orb, sceptre and crown at the very end really quite emotional, a kind of final moment of being relieved of duty for her majesty. BBC were wonderful as ever, they just do this sort of thing so well, someone give Huw, Kirsty and Dimbers a gong.

I found that the saddest part, finality.

I only watched the last hour or so though.

Despite my republican tendencies, I did watch in the end. It’s history and I wanted to see it. I can only echo many of the previous posts; an unforgettable send off for an unforgettable lady. As others have said, the men and women, young and old who played their part in today’s events can be unequivocally proud of themselves. As we all are proud of them. I had a lump in my throat on a fair few moments of the coverage.

Well done all.

Quite agree. Monarchy vs. Republic debate can wait for a while (and I think it depends on how Charles performs) but today was for respect and was done perfectly.

I lost it when I saw Emma, her pony, and then her corgis. The personal touch in the middle of State Ceremonial.

Was about to post this, along with when they started off on the way to the abbey and the bagpipes kicked in.

The client I was working with today didn't want it on, so I've only caught a few youtube clips now at home. Glad it's all over to be honest. Even my elderly parents, staunch royalists watching most of it, said they eventually have found the constant sadness and solemnity overbearing now after blanket 10 day coverage everywhere (hard to avoid unless you turned the tv off). I thought Charles and Camilla looked dreadfully worn out today.

I thought Charles and Camilla looked dreadfully worn out today.

Indeed. What I think gets somewhat lost in all the pomp & circumstance is that Charles, Anne, Andrew & Edward have lost their mother. I've lost both my parents and that was difficult enough without having my every movement & emotion scrutinised by the media.

I’ve managed, by going to work and as yet not watching tv to avoid it.
Anyone remember ‘Whatever happened to the Likely Lads’ ?

I noticed that your barbed comments eased off. You do have a kind heart

Question for you military types. Do the chaps who made a magnificent job of Pall Bearing get a special stripe for their uniforms and hopefully plenty of pints in the mess.

Put it this way, since the Queen passed away, the whole process from start to finish, has been one big military operation, which from an inside perspective is fantastic to be a part of.

Yep, it absolutely has. They knew what to do and did it to perfection. I’m no war monger but I do like knowing we have an outstanding military, who, without them, we couldn’t live the lives that we do.”

I really do hope so. The most stressful job of the day I should think.

Indeed …I found both my parents funeral services mentally draining ..each service probably fifty minutes …I did walk to the church and graveyard which were just a stroll…..now compare there day. Then of course we have the build up!

Clamp & I have had our differences but he can consider a reasoned argument and he is one of the Good Guys on this Site IMO...

Likewise

Above all, it’d be a pretty cynical man who could find fault in the work put into that ceremony .

Definitely this. Charles looked very sad, and very knackered at various points today. Really feel for him - his agenda in the days following the loss of his mother has been horrendous (particularly bearing in mind his age).
