I wouldn’t bet against Bloom doing that to get the person he wants in.
Agree. Let Crofts and Lallana take the team til then. If the players knew they were getting Gallardo in they would stay very motivated which is my main concern during this period. Get the right man in whatever the situation.
Players like AliMac, Caicedo, Enciso would be buoyant at the prospect of a highly successful South American coach coming to the Amex.
Knutsen was my first choice but I'm in the Gallardo camp now with Knutsen as back up.

There are a few worried Forest fans on their forum - not sure of we can read into that in anyway? #grabbingatstraws

Gallardo would be very interesting. I like Knut more than the Celtic Aussie tbh but was expecting us to go Spanish speaking if not British. He seems to tick all the boxes and be the right kind of mould. Willing to trust any of the three though right now as Uncle Tony will have already dug deep.

Having just speculated on the Calderon thread that we might look to S. America for our next manager and knowing nothing about S. American football, I Googled 'Best Young Managers in South America' and found Marcelo Gallardo mentioned as a three time winner of South American Coach of the Year. I dismissed him, thinking that he's not going to leave legendary status in front of 75k every week to come to little old Brighton. I then come onto this thread to read rumours from the Argentinian press. If there's any chance he would be interested, this bloke might be the one. Reading this: https://footballelements.com/2020/0...predictable-tactician-all-of-europe-is-after/, he might as well be wearing a hat that says 'Attention! Tony Bloom!'

Have to say that this Gallardo fella looks worth a punt. Can't seem to find any odds on him anywhere though, how do you bet on him??

If you tweet Betfair your request and add the #oddsonthat hashtag, they will usually add an option to a market

Gallardo would give us an immense presence in Latin America, would be an upgrade tbh. I love this. But how long would he stay?

For starters, Knutsen has never managed in the Danish Superleague (he's Norwegian, managing a Norwegian club in the Norwegian league).

Secondly, do you think we need to go for someone with Champions League experience? Even with huge optimism, I don't see much need for anything about Europa League - where Knutsen as a very good record of punching above his club's weight. Given his adventures in Europe, wouldn't you say he has experience of a level above anything the club has achieved before?

His tactics and MO seem will suited to how the Albion are set up to operate (some detail here https://coachhall.substack.com/p/fk-bodglimt-2020-season-tactical)

You might not like it, but the club is set up to slot pieces back into their 3D jigsaw, so they will look well beyond the 1 dimensional aspect of "must have proven experience at our level" and put as much emphasis on the manager's playing style/philosophy and management style/personality.

It is what's giving us an edge and allowing the club to compete higher than it should, given the resources at its disposal, so why change it?

All of this.

Going back to square 1 and getting the team used to a new manager/style of play is the thing I fear most.
The current squad are well drilled and enjoy the way we play.
I'm sure they can adapt to a new manager's style, but why lose the progress of the past 3 years?

In all seriousness, he is probably out of reach. But it's lovely to dream. Will be hard settling on Dyche now we've let ourselves :)
