Great decision imo - so easy to access the scores and it's tedious listening to all 4 leagues' results plus Scottish leagues etc when I could just look up a result in an instant if I wanted to. Goes on for bloody ages!

During the last decade of The Goldstone my mate and I would sing along to the music that proceeded the scores "it's five o'clock on Saturday night, and Brighton have lost again, Brighton have lost again, Brighton have lost again".

Now changed to 'It's 4pm on Sunday' (yesterday excepted)

Terrible decision..... A complete abandonment of an important football culture. I guess it used to have more relevance in the days when everyone was checking their pools coupons. I can remember my dad doing so , and I had to keep quiet!
Nevertheless, it is still of great interest to the real fans as opposed to little boys and plastics..
For some reason I always looked out for the results of Hamilton Academicals and Forest Green Rovers. I just liked the names I guess. Now those small clubs won’t get a mention.
Who’s running the BBC these days?

Listening to the radio on the train after home game at the Goldstone was part of my Albion education.
Bring it back.

On balance I like and respect the BBC but this is a dreadful decision.

It's the opportunity to hear, in one place all the score from PL to National League.

Have the BBC now morphed into Sky in thinking that only the PL matters as the reason they are giving is that 5Live can concentrate on the 5.30 kick off in the PL?

Shocking decision - I'd love to know who made it.

This smacks of the OUTRAGE at the BBC when they ditched F1 and a petition was started to get it re-instated. Out of the targeted one million signatures, they mustered around 130k.

My point is that Sports Report/classified results is a bit out of date with modern times – and I say that as a 44-year-old semi luddite (I still use a physical dictionary on a daily basis, for example). People hate the thought of it going because it's been around for ages and they're useful/comfortable with it. That doesn't mean things should always stay the same – for example, one of the reasons it's going is becase 5Live had the Saturday evening game, so needs the airtime for build-up. Whether you think that's right or wrong, there are now so many different ways of getting hold of the information – and does anyone REALLY care that much about the results of a random Div 2 fixture (unless your team is involved)?

IMO anyway, like...

I don't get the outrage on this (on the tweet machine as opposed to here). In the days of the Goldstone, you'd get back to the car and find out the results of everyone else and got a bit of a school day in the process as you wondered where Cowdenbeath was. Now, my son can tell me who has scored and assisted for Spurs and how his Fantasy League team has got on before we have left the ground. Sports report and the theme tune is good for nostalgia but not a lot else.

Download the Flash Scores app and stop moaning. Getting Scott Mills and Nihal off 5 live is a more urgent issue.

It's a tricky one, this. I am also OUTRAGED that they are doing away with it. It was a part of my childhood and one of the last remaining nostalgic links to football before it became big business. It's criminal that they are taking it away. But I also don't think I've listened to it for 20 years, and if I'd have found out today that they stopped doing it 10 years ago, I wouldn't have been that surprised. It's quite confusing to try and argue that they should absolutely not change something that I haven't listened to for 20 years, and probably wasn't going to ever again.

I wasn't aware that they had the 5.30pm slot and an interesting give up by TalkSport.

Sports Report has been a staple of their Saturday evenings for yonks and forget the scores, it squeezes out even further the other sports that struggle for any exposure over #teamslikeBrighton

We will get used to it but there will be old codgers like me that hate change that will be missing it the most.

I get this would have been a tough decision for the Beeb and - on balance - I think they've got it right. It takes a long time to sit through the entire full set of results, everybody's got phones these days and can not only see all the scores but also scorers and other data.

Yes, it was nice while it lasted, I can remember fans on trains listening in on the journey home and my grandad checking his pools coupon to it but the Beeb has to stay relevant so it has to go.

How is Robbie Savage relevant to anything?
