Well that's the crux of it, the contract length does depreciate the value massively. We all know he's worth 50 to 60, but clubs won't pay that if they can get him get him free next year. 25 million is more a reflection of the situation we are in, in so far as the only thing we can do is dig our heals in but then we'd end up with nothing.
Selling one of your best players in January is rarely a good idea and could turn out very bad.

I said earlier in this thread that I thought Spurs would be his likely destination due to them qualifying for the Champions League and the resulting money from this.
This is a reasonable deal all round as it gives Yves the chance to play Champions League football, gives us profit on the player, albeit more modest perhaps than we'd have hoped. However one thing that doesn't seem to have been raised is that we got 4 years of Yves at a remarkably low wage compared to ability. So overall cost for outcome is good. Plus another reminder to BHA players that we won't stand in their way if a top 6 team comes in for them.
Helps the model. Money in the bank to spend on additions. We knew he'd be off this summer so Spurs it is. I can stomach Spurs whereas I couldn't Villa.

Wish him all the best. Getting a decent sum for him from a CL club works well all round, he's not gone to a direct rival and Spurs are, for me, the least unlikable of the big 6. Better them than Villa or Newcastle.

It's hard to take isn't it . shame the guy won't sign another contract and finish what he 's started here , top player but clearly GP being "like a father to him" was not enough , i find this one hard to take tbh .....40 million i could have been ok about but 25 is taking the piss.
and i'll be praying we annihilate them at least once next season....it's alright bringing these players through but when you look at the numerous failures that have cost TB loads Jahanbash, Locadiawhen we do find a gem we need to capitalise on it.
Its hard to verify actual transfer/contract deals but there’s plenty of reporting to suggest it’s not £25m now. But “north” of that figure + add ons. But he had 1 year left. And We’ve had lots of brilliant value from him.
He wanted champions league football, wouldn’t sign a contract , and club to help with future buys want to show that this pathway exists if you come here. So it’s no surprise.
There also haven’t been “numerous failures” , there have been several over 6 years - but also numerous bargains. (See Cucurella, Gross, Veltman, White, Sanchez, Caicedo and so on)

Sad day for us and will be a massive loss but good move for Biss - Spurs could be in for a good season under an excellent manager. None of us will ever know the true price but wouldn't be surprised if it settles at £30m with add on's from the various reports. With a longer contract he's worth double that but it is what it is. We've had 4 brilliant years from him and doubled the price we paid.

The bloke is absolutely bang in his prime, CL ready, and will make Spurs a MUCH better side. £25m? We would keep Bissouma for that money irrespective of the length of his contract. IF he goes it’ll be undisclosed and Levy will be bleeding from his derrière.

Not sure what people expect here? Last summer was the time to cash in for big £££. He helped us get our best ever finish instead. Time to move on and best of luck to the lad.

With one year left, £30M would have been the absolute best we could have hoped for I think, £25M is fair.
Some may think we have lost £25M from if we had sold last summer, but no one made an offer as far as we are aware, or lost £5M to £10M from if we had sold in Jan, but if Biss was not keen on a move to Villa and it didn't happen anyway we would have set the bar for this Summer lower than £25M
I think we paid £13M, his contract was to pay something like £6.5M over 5 years, selling now saves £1.3M of that, so he has cost the club around £18M, been fantastic for us on the pitch and given the club a £7M positive input on finances, excluding the difference he might have made between relegation and survival, or rungs on the ladder last season. He is also leaving after we have blooded Caicedo, who I am backing to be even better.
We need to be positive on player trading to be sustainable, we can't afford to be letting players like Pogba go on a free as Man Utd have done, after paying £89M transfer fee and a similar sum in wages over 6 years.

£25m seems a low figure but then he looks good in a Potter side, might struggle in a Spurs side better players extra pressure. However, good luck to him and thanks for the memories.
