Probably because of 83, United are still the top six team I most want to beat. With our current form and theirs it really feels like we’ve got a great chance to upset one of the big boys (again). UTA.

This. Unlike those up the road, this lot stole a cup final from us by cheating. Whiteside, three deliberate handballs? Ramsey? FFS. I wish them nothing but misfortune.

Expecting a pretty tight game. Dont really get how you can "expect" taking points from them... they are not particularly good by United standards but they're still 6th with a fair amount of quality here and there.

Still in Brighton
If any one has someone who can't go and doesn't use the club exchange I'm still an Albion member and would pay the season ticket price, if they're happy to add me as friends and fam as a one off. Not ashamed to say I gave up my season ticket for financial reasons this season and I still can't justify the full ticket price at the mo (there are singles on the official exchange). We always play well against Utd and yeah also not ashamed to say I'd like to see Ronaldo v Webster/Dunk before he retires. Probably get slaughtered for the request but don't care frankly, worth a go (not sure how well singles sell on the club exchange, on the odd occasion I put mine on there they never sold..)

Stolen by the same club, albeit a different referee. I both feel your pain, and your wishes for their future(s). :)

I must admit, I am looking forward to seeing Ronaldo live for the first time. One of the greatest players the world has ever seen.

I hope he has a thoroughly MISERABLE afternoon though, obvs.

Indeed. The perfect outcome would be 3-1 to us with Ronaldo scoring a wordie consolation goal with the final kick of the game yet being unable to give it his trademark celebration because the game will be over.

When he signed, I’ll admit I looked for this fixture. Whatever people think of him, he IS one of the best to ever play football.

I was looking forward to being able to say I’d seen him play live, years from now. Then my friend decided to have a wedding this Saturday. The tit.

I have spent most of my years looking forward to playing a team from the top division in a cup. I remember Derek Dougan and Charlie George putting us in our place some time ago.

We have been in the premier for a while now and have by far, the best players I have ever seen in the stripes. in the first couple of seasons we knew our place and struggled through, but lately we have proved capable of going head to head with the best. (OK, City and Liverpool when they're not at their best )

But Utd, the multi-million pound United ? I'll be seriously disappointed if we don't get something out of this, nothing on the game but pride and I can't wait :albion2:

If we lose now, I'll accept it's all my fault :lolol:

Do you mean West Ham Utd, Leeds Utd or Manchester Utd ? So many uniteds. We are always not far off playing one of them.

It's one of those matches we have the right to be disappointed about if we lose.

Agreed. It's a shame that our home form is so bad, but if we do lose, yes I shall be disappointed. Yes they're 'Big Six', but they know that they are just about to enter (another) rebuilding phase with (another) new manager and this is as good a time to play them as we'll ever have.

However I know others still want to use 1997 as a point of reference for everything and there will be posts along the lines of "Well I've just watched the 'Brighton - Stand or Fall' trailer and so I can't get upset at losing a Premier League game at home to Manchester United thank you very much". But I shall be pissed off. As you say we've earned the right now to be disappointed with a home defeat against an out-of-sorts Man U.

I won’t be disappointed.

We don’t have our Champions League qualifying form at home, we have relegation form.

There is a ‘way’ to play us at the Amex which involves sitting back, being highly organised and taking one of the two or three chances you’ll get on the break. It works exceptionally well for most teams guaranteeing at least a draw in most cases. If Man Utd adopt this tactic, we’re going to lose, 100%.

This tactic also relies on our players missing all our good goal scoring opportunities. Until we get some new signings in, I can’t see that changing.

Of all the big clubs, Utd seem to be the jammiest when we play them. It started with Baileys outstretched leg, and they’ve even had a penalty after the final whistle! Anyway, we stand a chance as I turned down tickets (another indicator of how far we’ve come! “Nah, it’s only Utd and the gardens looking a mess…”)

I think this is genuinely the first time as an Albion fan where I am partly going (or at least taking my son) to see an opposition player. I never thought that would happen.

I really think we can get something out of this, and hopefully Ronaldo has a thoroughly miserable afternoon. They are so inconsistent and they are there for the taking, we should have a right go at them and be thinking that we can win.

I hope if we do get beaten that it is through some brilliance from Ronaldo though.
