The truth is that we do not have a County Championship standard 4 day team. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. The members who paid full whack should be refunded as they were mis sold. Those running Sussex cricket should hang their heads in shame. They are an absolute disgrace.

They removed wicketkeeper/batsman Ben Brown from the captaincy. His record was very good and he is now starring for Hampshire. What has that actually achieved please? . I would really like to know.
I hate to say it but Sussex are totally useless and do not deserve to be in the County Championship. It is as simple as that. An abysmal county team that has been abysmally managed.

I’m not letting them off with that.
Today and yesterday’s performances were far far below what that eleven should be producing.
Anything less than a competitive performance against a side of Derbyshire’s status is unacceptable.

That's a bit harsh on Sussex. They really, really didn't want Brown to go. The removal of the captaincy was a way of relieving the pressure on him - being a top-order batter, a keeper and a captain is a big ask and it looked to be a good decision as he made a heap of runs after the captaincy was taken off him. It was a big shock when he left: I was speaking to a member of the Sussex staff in the autumn and he said Brown was Sussex through and through and wouldn't leave.

To suggest that Sussex forced him out is a reversal of the truth.

They didn't want Salt or Jordan to leave either but the sad truth is that other counties have got deeper pockets.

Well if you remove the captaincy from somebody you stand to lose him and that is what has happened. They felt his loyalty to the county would be greater than the 'slight' to him. It wasn't and they/we are paying the price.

I don't pretend to know the "truth" but this mismanagement narrative seems closer to it than pure finance as the cause.

.

Not sure who you spoke to at Sussex but yes BB was Sussex through and through, but it was the worst kept secret out there that Sussex were making life difficult for him and forcing him out. And relieving him of the captaincy so he could concentrate on his batting?? Come on, so why plunge Haines into that same situation at a much younger age?

A huge surprise....close of play.....278 for 2.

A good day for the Albion and Sussex.

A very good effort in the 2nd innings. Highlighting just how poor our first innings was on that wicket.

Would be nice to set them a target and take a few of their wickets before the end of play.

Tom has got a triple century here. Fill yer boots. The wicket is woefully tame and the bowling looks like it's under anesthetic.

Usual problem now though, Tom Haines will be on the England radar if his improvement continues as it has.

No chance. What will happen is Haines will go, then a massive collapse setting them a meagre target they'll polish off before lunch tomorrow. And that's being optimistic.

It's the last day of four today.

Especially as this is the final day!
