Just a reminder of the real term gap between the teams.

They are on double our points and on a run.

Yes but that wasn't the point I was making. I am talking about our performances. In this game and in the recent run of defeats. We haven't performed anywhere near the levels we are capable of, and I'm not talking about our best levels but our standard. We've been well below it.

Difficult to know how to evaluate that. Liverpool were by far the better team and could have scored more, but we didn’t give up. We really miss Webster at the back with his pace. Veltman is a decent defender but pace isn’t his thing.
We are really short of confidence at present and a game against Liverpool was never going to be easy at any time, let alone on this run of ours. We need to get some sought of result against Spurs to get us back on track.

Think we have just got to the stage that the team needs a bit of a refresh.

Some of the players either bored, undermotvated or simply just don’t care.

Important summer where we are going to need to move a few on and recruit well

It does remind me why I really don't enjoy having to watch BT Sport if I can't make it along to the game.

My BT stream is working perfectly now that the game's finished.

This from the BBC sums it up:

‘Brighton are going for it. They’re having opportunities, but they’re just not confident enough to take them.’

? - he's done nothing really wrong today?

Apart from the clear errors with the opening goal, Bissouma getting lucky and Allison handling out of the area. The Sanchez howler was also a VAR error, but the ref has to spot that dangerous challenge when it’s that clear. You can argue the toss for most of the 50/50 calls, but I thought he got a lot wrong?

I’m wondering if there’s been any improvement from last season and fearing a crocked Lallana and an off Biss means come June we are probably worse off than a year ago.

Isn't this part of the managers job and if he can't do that, why is he here ?

Part of yes…. Although I tend to find that’s a bit of a cliche. I’ve heard enough ‘pundits’ who are ex players talk about how players should have enough professional pride and desire to win matches that it can’t all be put at the managers door. Potter is to blame for some things but the form and performance of Biss and Trossard lately is more about them than the manager.

But we all know in this day and age players who aren’t interested are only motivated by money.

Because he’s the Messiah, remember?

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that now.

Personally, I think he is very like the Messiah and has risen from the dead like a Chris Hughton Mark 2. Tedious football and a willingness to talk up the opposition at every opportunity.....oh, and a very nice man. A very nice man indeed.

In fairness Lallana is and has always been crocked, it’s Biss being off his game that’s more concerning. That and neither can score goals.

Oi get your own narrative

Sure we've not crashed from the top of the peak straight down to the bottom of the trough.

But all the indicators point to The Honourable Chris Hughton has been replaced by an equally honourable Chris Hughton-lite.

While all above him are doing their very best to ignore the elephant in the room and all below are just going through the motions.

Nothing is going to change anytime soon.

I write that thinking we have a better chance of winning today than any other game recently.
But comfortable in the thinking if IF that were to happen it would be the last win of the season!

:lolol:

Allison didn't handle outside the area.

Pretty regulation defeat against a team with superior players all over the pitch. If you play badly against these teams you get beat 5 or 6. If you play at the top of your game you get a result that goes into folklore and you celebrate wildly. This was just an expected result with neither teams hitting top form. Better players = win.

Gonna be a tough couple of weeks. Not expecting anything. After that I'd like to see Caicedo get some time to get ready for replacing Biss. Like to see Sarmiento get some time instead of Tross. Bring Mwepu back up to speed. And hope that Webster comes back and stays fit. Think we only need 3 more points to be safe, so look to the next generation.

Another shit day at the office.
Never looked like scoring even when Trossard had practically an open goal, couldn't even hit the target.
It's all very boring at the moment, my love for the game is definitely waining again. Premier League football is very overrated unless you have countless billions to attract top players. I'd rather be a top championship side than bottom half prem.
Another loss coming Wednesday and then a couple of weeks off. Things need to change.

Agree, we need three more points and then let’s play Caicedo, Mwepu, Sarmiento. No point looking to Biss as although he’s been a great player for us his heart isn’t completely in it.
We need to evolve over the next few games to give us heart for next season.
