Candidates - or their representatives - often watch the count closely so get to see spoiled papers. A message big enough, clear enough and simple enough will be seen. It won't make a difference, but it's not quite such a scream in the void as I thought it was before.

You're right. I had a go as a candidate's counter once, a real eye opener, I was genuinely awe struck by the power of democracy!

Spoiled papers have to be viewed, at the end of the count, by all candidates to decide if they can be allocated to anyone.
