A great talent. Like Dany Rose. I wonder what they have in common?

(the answer is lack of due care and attention by their ludicrous club.)

Either that or a huge contract which has set them up for life, a sense they've "made it", and enjoying VIP rooms, ladies and fame rather than training, improving their game and doing what made them successful in the first place.

We've seen it so many times over the decades. They peak early, give up, and trade on past glories while banking enormous sums. Wilshere, Ozil, Alli, Locadia, Rodwell, Cleverly, Barkley. We are seeing it start to happen with Rashford to an extent.

The player has to want to change their attitude and improve, but getting a multimillionaire celebrity to do anything they don't want to do isn't easy.

It is not nonsense to find that one's opinion of Welbeck and Lingard do not match the opinion of the player in question. The two aforementioned players are both known for being very hard-working and having a great attitude. That is questionable in regard to Ali.

If we did sign him, I hope you are right that it would prove fantastic, but that is very far from certain.

You say that now but go and have a look at the Welbeck and Lingard threads, you’ll see equally nonsenical comments saying we shouldn’t sign them early in the threads.

And those saying he has a bad attitude etc have no clue whatsoever that’s the case. It’s usual steroypical bollocks just like in the Lingard thread. A lot of people who have worked with Alli would say the opposite. He’s had a bad time at Spurs recently (who has had a good time there?!), it happens to many players, doesn’t mean he’s a dickhead at all.

Does anybody actually know the issue with Dele Alli ?

I don’t and I’m pretty sure nobody else on here does either.

His form has dipped hugely but there must be more to it than being a ‘dickhead’ as people have labelled him on here.

Perhaps he has just fallen out of love with the game, it happens.

But if anybody has any facts then please enlighten me.

I don't remember anyone questioning their work ethic. Lots of people have questioned his though. But there is no doubt he is talented and given the correct conditions, yes he may do the biz for anyone who can give him what he needs. I have no opinion about him being a dickhead, just an opinion formed from the last few years of seeing him play very badly. If he played like that and wasn't a 'name' I doubt he would have lasted five minutes with us let alone spurs. He would at this moment in time occupy a space in my head until recently occupied by Locardia.

Exactly what we need, goal scoring midfielder. Would comfortably be our best player if potter can motivate him.

I wonder how many people writing him off have actually watched him play more that what, 2 or 3 times over the last few years? And live, at all?

Sussex, by the sea
We have the ability to coach and manage
He has the ablity to play

It could work, if both parties want to succeed and agreed a package.

No one here knows jack shit about his real situation.

I think its a fair guess he had a poor relationship with the special 'needs' one and has gone backwards, but there's a top 10 PL player in there.

Surely this potential transfer has “Newcastle” written all over it?

Comfortably?

Bissouma is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world imo. Alli is some way behind that. Can be a brilliant player but not bissouma class.

its a bit presumptive isnt it? funny though people dismissing him when he'll go to higher profile club, maybe its a coping mechanism. id' forgotten all about him until he popped in twitter trend a few weeks ago. such a talent, seem to be unable to fit role properly, too good for midfield, not right as a forward.

Definitely take a punt on a loan, he has so much potential and we have manager who would help him achieve it

Whilst I can see why this could easily be filed in the bollocks bin, Ali was in and around the England set up when Ashworth was which appears to have played a part in the Welbeck and Lallana signings. Very much the type of player who could thrive under Potter.

He scored 46 goals in 146 games in his first 3 seasons at Spurs. 21 in 123 in his last 3 1/2 seasons.
Down from 1 in 3 to 1 in 6. I'd love the early incarnation but not so keen on the later one.

Anyone saying no doesn’t know football. At the right price he would perfect. Players with talent sometimes take a while to mature. Look at what Lingaard did for West Ham last season. Ali could easily do that for us. Very talented. Just need to get his screwed on. I’d back Potter to get the best out of him.

Same for Wayne Bridge. Welbeck was too injury prone and couldn’t get in the Watford team. Lingard was shit for us and didn’t care about football anymore.

There were also doubts when we signed Upson & Lallana.

To win 30 or 40 England caps you’ve got to be pretty good. If he plays close to his potential he’s probably our best player or right up there in my opinion.

Is it a gamble? Yes. But he is more than good enough for us; a huge upgrade on Gross and to a lesser extent MacAllister.

If he didn’t break our wage structure, I’d bring him in without question.
