Why, in January, would we take 50m for a player who we don't need or want to sell, is coming into his prime, has been excellent all season, and who still has 4.5 years on his contract ?

Websters stock is going to get a lot further north than that. Glad your hand isn't on the cash tiller.

Well l hope it';s only his stock that is going a lot further north.

Newcastle just panicking now. Whilst I do concede that we may lose Bissouma this window (I still think it more likely he goes in the summer), I cannot see us letting an additional key player go too, especially to Newcastle. Bloom does not need to be rushed to sell, and quite frankly both Biss and Webster could do better.

I am confident that Newcastle will be disappointed in this endeavour, if they are indeed in for both

How about a little question mark or something in the headline.

Anyway, it can not be ruled out. Not likely but if they really want to, they can get 99,9% - including Webster - of the players on the planet with the resources they have.

Maybe Adam is one of the 0.1% :D

Blimey. 50 million for Ben White. 50 million for Bissouma. 50/60/70 for Webster. Anybody would think we've got a good recruitment / development set up.

Agreed, Webby is going nowhere, Biss this window but only if an insane offer comes in.

They won't pony up for Bottman or the other lad - so why do they think we'd take £30M or so which appears to be market they are in.

Also there is strong suggestions they don't want to upset the dressing room with unbalanced wages, with Webster new deal in the summer he has to be a top earner so many move would have to be into 6 figures per week.

And I don't think Webster would go, got a young family, support network in Sussex. Upping and leaving to the North East, I can't see it.

More to the point, why would he want to leave a top 10 club for one quite possibly in the Championship?

Me neither, my Gran could do better than him!

Happy to sell my Gran for £50m should anyone from Newcastle be looking in?

Can she play left back?

Asking for a much-missed NSC grandad.

He went to my school although long after I left, I am more Tim Peake era.. well he was yr12 when I was yr7. He played for Pompey from the age of 12 and is from the Witterings... I think his Sussex accent is probably OK

I dont. If they go for Ashworth, which has to be a very realistic possibility, then I'd be very surprised if he doesn't come for Potter in the summer, and then, well, it could be a whole house of cards.....

I have to say as a massive Potter fan, that if he chases the money and blood and goes to Newcastle, I’ll say good riddance. I will be shocked though

He owes TB not Ashworth as I’m pretty sure Ashworth hasn’t actually dug into his own pocket to support the Albion

I also can’t see TB allowing Ashworth to go unless he signs a watertight legal undertaking of a “no poaching” agreement that will last a few years

Well we no we rate Roberts and Turns very highly. Ostigard and Van Hecke clearly aren’t far off, and god knows which young talents we are currently scouting. £80 million and he’s theirs. (Webster seems VERY happy here)
