[Albion] Sky sports: Villa interested in Biss

I get the impression that a lot of decent players remain hungry until they sign that top contract that sets them up for life. I think Biss will look to see his contract out if we don’t offer him silly money in the meantime. He can then command whatever he wants from elsewhere. If it happens we shouldn’t lose any sleep over it. S**t happens. The structure of the club seems so sound now that there will always be someone to replace him allowing the club to live within its margins and not end up with the sort of debt that many of the other, perhaps more successful, clubs have.

Those margins are only set where they are because of Tony Bloom’s continuing generosity. I imagine we’re quite a long way from breaking even at the moment, especially after a long period of empty stadiums. But I agree that 18 months of Biss and the positive effect on our league position is something even TB would weigh carefully against the loss of transfer value.

Not sure that makes sense - he could easily have doubled his money on a new contract I’d imagine which would have started negotiations a year or so back, so if he doesn’t want ‘our offer’ then he probably is interested in moving isn’t he ?

slim chance he could be holding out to see if European football is on the cards next year , he has said in the press that GP has been like a father to him and with his driving and other rumoured behaviour the club have been reasonably supportive and nurturing , he seem's like a really good guy to me and knowing a lot of Africans they are genuinely loyal folk once a bond is cultivated , all wishful thinking on my part , he was a hell of a find and i would love to get a few more years out of him but i guess if Liverpool or either Man mob are after him for the right money then TB will have to cash in........will be gutted to see him leave if he does.

Sky reckon that they are going after another guy now:

“Aston Villa in talks with Juve over Bentancur
Aston Villa are in talks with Juventus over a move for Rodrigo Bentancur, with the Serie A side valuing the defensive midfielder at around £16m.”

£16m? That’s about right for them and £34m+ less than what Biss would cost. Time for the media to accept that our main midfield man won’t be going anywhere near that club. Ever.

Bentancur for £16m would be a bargain in today’s market, I’d be going for that too!

Newcastle hope to pip Aston Villa to the signing of Yves Bissouma

Aston Villa still hold interest in Yves Bissouma but are exploring other options, so the door is open for Newcastle to make an approach for a player they had earmarked in January.

Newcastle will hold fresh talks today over a move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Aston Villa still hold interest in Bissouma but are exploring other options, so the door is open for Newcastle to make an approach for a player they had earmarked at the beginning of the window.
Brighton want £50million for the Mali international, 25, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Guess he’s going to Saudi now if you believe the Daily Mail. Same recycled stories over and over and over.

Is this true of all 1.2 billion Africans. What is the attitude of Asians with loyalty once bonds are made? or do you not know as many.

i can only speak for the Africans i know personally , i don't know as many Asians but both are far more loyal than your average English.

If you are going to lose a player you may as well lose him to the one team who everyone knows is loaded and desperate. Maximum return achieved.

I'd be staggered if he jumped ship for them but again, they are loaded and desperate. I'd love to say pride in my job would take priority but the moment they wave that fat cheque in front of you....

Going to be fun on here if Ashworth and Biss to Newcastle is announced at the same time

The smugness on Howe’s face when interviewed about it would be unbearable for me

Assure me that it’s not going to happen

25 yrs old, 18m on contract, peak saleability moment. If Yves wants it and TB gets £50m to make it happen, then going to Newcastle is not inconceivable at all. He was outstanding at Chelsea and not obviously missed in the return at The Amex. If he's fully cooked and ready to go, this move meets the club's sustainability model. Might knock the top 10 objective back a year, but equally it opens the door for Mac Allister, Alzate, Moder and all the new boys coming through like Mwepu, Caicedo and the new Polish lad. And the rest.

If villa getting someone else in, I expect he will go to spurs or arsenal in July.

I can’t see him going to Spurs. He is after regular Champions League football. Arsenal are about to blow all their beans on a Serb striker so I don’t think they’ll be making another £50m+ signing this year. He’ll go abroad to somewhere like PSG if he doesn’t end up at Liverpool, Citeh, Manure or Chelsea. I think Manure are the favourites to swoop for him as he is a level or two up on Fred & McTominay.
