Just how awful is this government? June 2020 edition

Person complaining about politicians making misleading comments then posts misleading comments shock.

We could not lower our 5% rate while in the EU as that was the minimum rate allowed. Spain has lowered there's because it was much higher but even now it's still way above our current 5% rate. Labour want to get rid of our 5% rate which they couldn't do if we were still in the EU

Check out what the EU has said about VAT lately.

The EU are lowering the rates. We are staying sky high.

You see the problem here is, whilst on the one had, JCFG is right that not having to abide by EU regulation we could lower or scrap VAT, that doesn't mean our Government will actually do it. The same as them voting to pour raw sewage in our rivers now that the EU can't stop them. It just highlights the disingenuous way Brexit was sold to the people where, if you see Gove's statement, they clearly state a vote to leave would mean lower energy bills as they could scrap VAT

It depends if you have a government that works in the interest of the people or one in hock to the bigs corps, banks, or, of course, their own self interest / Tory donors

Turns out there was a slight flaw in the Government’s plan to send immigrants to Ghana for processing. Namely nobody asked Ghana…

This seems pretty authentic to me - and there have been similar rumours previously.

You do have to query just how much lower these people will go. And you know it must be true as Johnson denied it.

The Tory party has changed for the worse in a few years. Of course it was always the 'nasty party' in Mrs May's words. But goodness me they are a lot nastier now.

Definitely authentic. Fabricant actually admitted it. Blackmail is a criminal offence.

Is that intended to be a defence of the Whip's behaviour?

'We are all get mercilessly bullied and threatened all the time; nothing to see here!'

...not a very strong argument in my opinion......
