Took us about 45 minutes to get from the Ditchling Road/Coldean Lane turnoff from the Beacon down to the traffic lights onto Lewes Road, why is this suddenly happening? Barely a problem there in the first 10 years at the Amex :shrug:

Same for us, as I posted last night.

From my observation it seemed to be that because the Sussex Uni / Bridge split point is quite close to the actual Bridge turning, the backed up queue for Sussex Uni parking was blocking those who wanted to go to the Bridge.

I guess a large part of it is folks choosing to give public transport a swerve on account of a global pandemic and the huge numbers of mask-dodgers on aforementioned public transport

All these queues will no doubt get used as an excuse by council to ban travel by car completely ...

Was the Bridge car park half empty again as it was when "sold out" re matches earlier in season?

A few days ago parking opened up again for the Palace and Chelsea matches. On the parking webpage it said Bridge but inside it was actually for Uni car park 7, which is a multistory towards the back. I used it last night and it was easy getting in just after 6pm, but took an age to get out again at the end. Still, better than queuing in the cold for the train.

I parked at Sussex Uni last night. Only reason was because of crap trains back to London. Last time I parked at the Amex was for a Boxing Day game against Arsenal. I can’t be the only new parker because of crap trains.

I’ve used a car park for virtually every game this season …previous to the last two games there’s not been an option to purchase a ticket for the uni ..seems to me more spaces available is part of the issue

But that’s been an issue all season. It’s only been the last two matches where they have foolishly decided to scan the tickets with equipment that is clearly not fit for purpose.

It’s a long road into stanmer but a lot of cars are being held by stewards taken up a minute to get a scanner to work. Not sure how many cars park in there but it’s clearly unmanageable to scan everyone at that pace. As I said in my opening post it took the steward 4 goes and then she gave up.

You also have a lot more people (it seems to me) using Stanmer Park and or dropping people off and then turning around. There were no stewards at the Stanmer Park road entrance last night.

Is that a joke?

No. Every ticket for the bridge at least now has to have a Reg no specified when purchased and if it doesn’t match you will be denied entry. Not sure about the uni. It’s a great idea by the club to ease the travel arrangements if it’s fans…………

So how do you change the reg number on the ticket if for some reason the car you booked your ticket with, potentially weeks ago, is no longer available on the day? I can’t see anywhere on the BHA site that allows this?

I raised the same question with Supporter Services for the same reason, I may not know which car I’m travelling in right up until the time I leave.

This is the rationale for asking for the Reg plate

“ Thanks for emailing in, I have time to gather more information as to why this is requested and it is that we have had a few incidents this season where fans have lefts their cars parked at the stadium and have attempted to leave them overnight.

For this reason we require the details of the plate so we are able to contact anyone should their car be left. As I mentioned on our live chat you are able to booking under one plate and then provide us with an update should you need to.

I hope this clears this matter up for you.”

Clearly this didn’t clear the matter up for me, it’s ridiculous. Clamp or tow cars left after the match - that’s what happens on Mill Road.

I’ve been told that I can email or call up to three hours before kick off to change the car details and they will email a new pass to me. I think the chances of that happening three hours before kick off are remote!

Yeah, we were in the row just above the entrance/exit and I don't think we moved for 45 minutes, maybe more. I can only guess that fewer people than usual left early tongiht which meant a bigger group all trying to get away at the same time after the game.

(Related: In case he reads this: thanks to the chap in the yellow VW electric vehicle for letting me into the queue. Having sat there as long as me, he could easily have shunted forward and kept me out.)

I have to admit - I'm always surprised by the patience of the drivers leaving the Bridge car park.

Consider cycling. Took me 55mins from Shoreham last night, and then home bang on 11pm.

Would take me 5hrs, according to Google at least.

Probably 24hrs+ including an inevitable hospital visit, and emergency collection.

Other than when you book Bridge parking now it specifically asks for your Reg plate and says it will be checked on arrival and if it’s doesn’t match entry will be denied. Hence my query to supporter services.
