Don’t they get wiped half way through or something like that ?

They don't get wiped but after the 19th game, which is the boxing day game against Brentford (unless anything between now and then gets postponed), the threshold for yellow cards moves to 10 which would see a player pick up a 2 game ban if they get those 10 before the completion of the 32nd game. After that it's 15 by the end of the season.

Not until 32nd fixture so I think it is fairly safe to say that all of those players will be suspended at some point.

Edit: Ok, wrong. Corrected by the post above so maybe there is a decent chance some players will avoid suspension.

Sanchez
Veltman - Roberts - Burn
Lamptey - Bissouma - Gross - Cucurella
March - MacAllister
Maupay
Unfortunately, with that back 3, we may be looking at a much degraded goal difference after the game.

There is still a high possibility of at least Maupay and Bissouma having to serve suspensions as they need to avoid being booked in the next 4 games (Spurs, Wolves, Man Utd and Brentford). Veltman maybe depending on his injury, Lallana may well not have to worry. Cucurella is on 3 so may be a concern if he picks up on against Spurs too.

Yup. In the case of Bissouma it will be very difficult to avoid probably. Cant afford to tell a defensive midfielder to hold back just because he might get suspended.

Probably the optimal thing would be if he gets a yellow against Wolves.

Don’t know much about the circumstances of this guy’s injury, but it sounds like he was in no state to carry on playing in the game after he’d done it. Dunk didn’t even go down and need the physio on and was still throwing himself into tackles and jumping to defend corners deep into injury time. There’s surely no way he could’ve been doing that with a knackered ACL, is there?

No, I wouldn’t have thought so.

Joel and Leo should be OK for the weekend fortunately.

Dunky almost certainly not.

Webster and Lallana will be out for a few weeks but we know how that goes, could turn into months.

Brighton player previously arrested has bail extended until Jan 5th.

Joel Veltman the big bonus I think.

It means we won't be forced to play a player out of position and can make a decision on whether we want to give a start to Roberts without it happening because we've been forced to

And just to forestall any unwanted speculation and discussion:

Just for this instance, I think 'end of' is appropriate for now?

It also means we would have THREE centre backs available (Veltman / Burn / Roberts) which gives us the option of playing a back three if desired.

Personally I'd have a lot more confidence in Roberts being thrown into a three (let Burn take all the first headers), than in a pair within a back four.

Completely agree. Roberts looks very much like a back 3 sort of player and should be targeting that LCB spot. I can imagine a set up where Roberts and Veltman play in a 3 and both have licence to carry the ball forward.

We do have the option of a 4, Lamptey Veltman Burn Cuccerella. But to me that nullifies our main attacking threat of attacking full backs. I don't recall Burn playing a centre back in a 2 or as the central player in a 3, so can't really comment on that

A couple of times at Southampton Dan Burns passing let him down when playing out from the back.
I hope for the sake of my anxiety levels that Sanchez hoofs the long ball out to the left side of half way line for Burn to head onto an attacking team mate.

We looked far less confident in our passing without Dunk. Maybe Haydon Roberts can offer more in his passing and beating the press than I'm expecting.
I would anticipate plenty of Fantasy League team owners to be buying Harry Kane in for this week.

Is this a wind up? Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster miles clear and that’s just In the current squad.

Nonsense. There's no way Dunk or Webster could do half of the intricate passing and other ball play Burn has shown us down the wing.

Dunk has got a nice long ball and simple controlled passing along the back, but rarely attempts tight passing under pressure or anything more complicated than giving it to Bissouma or Lallana in space. Never makes a mistake when he does that. Burn has excellent close control, ability to play one twos in tight situations, shown us a decent cross on occasion, and so on.

In a nutshell, i could never see Dunk or Webster being able to play wing back

But hey, all opinions :)

Think you will find Roberts when on loan struggled with physical side at CB and was put to LB

I agree. Burn very good on the ball and yes has stuck some decent crosses in when venturing forward

I disagree that he's better than Dunk and Webster (and possibly Lawro, i'm too young to know) as a ball player. They are invaluable at the back, if they were put out of position at wing back, they would do a competent job. As Burn has.

I'm hoping to see Burn nail down that position at LCB rather than LWB. Huge competition for places when all fit of course.

If he does play he'll be targeted of course.

They'll get the ball out wide and hang crosses up for Kane to attack him at the back post.

It's not in itself a reason not to play him. If you're going to be a PL player you need to learn to deal with that
