Okay, so as you get through some options, take your time, but vote for your best supermarket mince pie 2021. Open ended poll to follow...

No tarts, crumbles, frangipanes, it's a mince PIE, a pie that has a proper top.

What no comment from the usual suspects about supply issues???? I’m disappointed.

Best supermarket ones I’ve tasted this year are M & S . Best overall are the ones from Truffles bakery . Lovely generous tasty filing and buttery not too thick pastry .

Worst so far has been Tesco from their fresh bakery section , barely any filing and horrible tasting thick pastry .

West is BEST
I’ve gone for Waitrose but I closely follow that with Lidl. Very close but Waitrose just pips it.

Lidl's mince pies are lovely.

Which?'s recent results from their tasting panel, were:
1. Iceland Luxury All Butter Mince Pies - 73%
Asda Extra Special Luxury Mince Pies - 73%
3. Tesco Finest Mince Pies - 72%
4. M&S Collection Mince Pies - 71%
5. Aldi Specially Selected Mince Pies and Lidl Deluxe All Butter Mince Pies - 68%
6. Waitrose No.1 All Butter Mince Pies - 68%
7. Co-op Irresistible All-butter Mince Pies and Spar Luxury All Butter Mince Pies - 66%
8. Morrisons The Best Mince Pies - 64%
9. Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Mince Pies - 58%

No surprise ... M&S and Waitrose far more expensive than everyone else.

Excellent info.

Do you think I could scoff a pack of Morrisons 'The Best Mince Pies', and then claim a refund, claiming your survey as proof that they are clearly not the best?

I did a blind taste test 2 Xmas ago with all the family. All the usual brands plus a local Artisan bakers and do you know what won it?

Greggs, yes Greggs mince pies. Waitrose underperformed the most.

I love those taste test comparisons. Without, the assumption would always be Waitrose and M&S are the best at everything.

Does Fortnum & Mason qualify as a supermarket/store?

I guess so but only to the locals who live in Piccadilly and who earn more than £250,000 a year . I read a couple of years ago that an average weeks supermarket shop there will cost £465. Presumably for a family of 4 . Makes Waitrose look a bargain I guess .
