Is she wins, she'll be nailed on to win it. She's already favoruite.

Yeah, I reckon she's already done enough to win it. If she wins the Open, they may as well announce it now

What is interesting is that the list this year will be well represented by women - what a turnaround from a few years back when there wasn't a single woman on it.

Raducanu, Kenny, Storey, Shriever, Price ... it's going to be quite a list

Looking pretty much nailed-on already. Bet365 go Raducanu 4/7, Tom Daley 15/8. Beyond that, the next shortest prices are Jason Kenny and Adam Peaty at 10/1

Just a quick heads-up for anybody planning on using their Amazon Free Trial for the tennis tonight (via the NSC link at the top of the page, obviously)

You might want to factor in that there's a couple of good-looking Albion fixtures on Amazon Prime towards the end of the year

**EDIT: TENNIS NOW BEING SHOWN LIVE ON CHANNEL 4 **

Yup - so far she is exhibiting all those qualities that people really warm to in sports stars: the outsider defying the odds who competes like an absolute demon - then straight afterwards comes across like a kid from down the street.

After she withdrew at Wimbledon, instead of hiding away, she came out the next day in an England football shirt and gave a really honest assessment of the occasion overwhelming her. No spin, no excuses, no media-savvy narrative, no ‘we go again’ bullshit; just a straight-up, open account that everyone could relate to and empathise with. Honesty takes you a long way in life.

Let’s hope this remarkable young woman can complete The Fairy Tale of New York tonight.

This is exactly the reason they buy the rights and aren't going to be selling them on now - they want to encourage people to sign up to Prime, so why on Earth would they take away an unexpectedly massive reason for a raft of new subscribers to sign up?

Do you think Amazon needs a short-term cash injection? ???

They would either have to be made a HUGE offer, or tie it in with some other longer-term PR/marketing strategy (make a meal of making it available in the UK to ingratiate themselves to the tennis-loving demographic?!)

Match now being shown live on Channel 4

Great Saturday night viewing. Well done Channel 4.

Emma to win two sets to one (around 11/4 with a couple of bookies. Maybe 3/1 somewhere).

Good move from Amazon. Gone from everybody moaning about them to everybody praising them for being so nice!

Superb bit of marketing!

So I see.

And to underline the fact that they don’t need the money and value the positive PR:

A seven-figure sum apparently, which Amazon have promised to re-invest into British womens tennis.

WIN/WIN

Great news whatever their motives!

This is superb news.

For over 60 years I haven't given a toss about tennis. Never seen a whole game.
Tonight, however, I shall be RIVETTED to the tele, caught up in this moment that is sweeping the country.

Great move by Channel 4
