Xbox 360 media sharing problem - HELP!!!

My Xbox is quite happy playing games over my wireless connection, but I can't connect to my laptop to stream media.
When I go into the Network settings in Control Panel on my laptop, the Xbox is there, but when I go to the Media Sharing section in Library on Windows Media Player 11, it's not finding it.
I've searched on line and it appears that many people have had the same problem, and still aren't sorted even after 2 hours on the phone to Microsoft. I'm guessing there's probably something really simple I'm missing. Running on Vista BTW. If anyone's got any ideas I would be most grateful.

Sorry, I don't do that connecting stuff with my xbox.

*wonders how long it'll be before someone suggests a ps3 and/or mac*

I think you need Windows 7?
