Forgive me for not knowing all the navy speak just yet, but what exactly is a greenie? Is that someone in engineering??

Electrician. My Dad was one of the first because he was a torpedoman during the war. That branch already had some knowledge of wiring, so when the Electrical branch was formed in 47/48, he changed alone with hundreds of others.

Only the Surgeons and Dentists wear colour between the rings on their arms now (red and pink respectively) but at one stage Electrical Engineering officers had green in between.
