Embarrassing thread
In what way? I've taken nothing for granted in my post, simply asking who our main rivals are.

For Villa to secure 2nd, say you need 90 pts they need to average 2.32 points per game, that equates a 106 points over a season. Are they that good?
It's a good point, but... they may not need 90 points (it's never taken that many), and 106 points in a season is difficult because teams have bad spells - Villa have had theirs. If 88 points is enough, they need 53 points from their last 28 games - for comparison, Burnley got 59, and Middlesbrough got 53 from their last 28 games last season.

Incidentally, how the **** have we managed to get Norwich and Villa away as two of our last 3 games? Is it just to make sure that if we're fighting for second, we can miss out and go into the playoffs knackered again?

The most curious thing..
Our main problem will be us - the traditional screw-up right at the end.

But Villa only have 25 points....They need 63 to get the 88 you mention.

I keep on trying to forget this, it's the worst possible 2 fixtures they could have given us to finish the season on, both away.

Newcastle would have been better as they would likely be clear and taking their foot off.

It just illustrates exactly why we need to maintain a gap with 3rd.

Cardiff and Rotherham away are the sort of games we should be concentrating on. Cant do anything about other teams results.

The old cliché and all that.

On the positive side, it means we are playing "easier" teams prior to then - gives us the chance to get points on the board. But that's a LONG way away, so let's just concentrate on Cardiff City. I'm sure that's what Chris is doing.

Incidentally, we're just getting to the point when things went tits up last season. We went on a 7 game run where we got 3 out of 21 possible points. And it should have been worse, as the game before that was the crazy 3-2 win against Charlton when they should easily have been 4-0 up at half time. Fingers crossed we're in better shape this time round.

Derby for me. Strongest squad they've had in a while and McLaren has sorted them out now it seems.

Brum - because nobody else fancies them, while they are sitting comfortably in 4th place and have only lost 3 games this season. Under the radar...
