I'm not convinced Twickenham was sold out, purely because I got my ticket from the box office at Twickenham on the day just before gates opened

Madonna is a strange one now. It's taken her a long time to shift 2 nights at the O2. Not sure they're even sold out now

Iron Maiden selling out rock in Rio doesn't translate to being able to sell out Wembley. Their support in South America is massive. They didn't sell out the Twickenham gig and they've not really grown since. They have a hardcore fan base that will buy the initial rush of tickets but as has been.said above very little casual appeal.

Well i couldnt get a ticket for Twickenham ,so you are talking shit !!

Twickenham was sold out (i.e. no tickets left on sale) - I know as I couldn't get any. I think that the spaces there were restrictions on the stadium.

They were selling tickets on the day though. They had a number of box offices advertising pay on the gate as I went in.

Hate stadium gigs anyway, so not much bothered. I guess it's a prestige thing for the bands and easier than playing a year full of smaller gigs, but not much in it for the fans. £80+ to see one gig! :-(

And spend more time watching the big screen than the stage. Bigger than the Dome is too big for me these days.

See above. They were actively selling tickets on the actual day. I know that some agencies only get a quota to sell. Maybe this is what happened in your case?

If ABBA reformed then that would sell out very quickly.

To be fair i am a Def Leppard fan ,but have seen maiden many many times , and they have sold more records than metalica and ACDC

According to Wikipedia ACDC has sold over 200m, Metallica 110m and Maiden 85.
