Fela Kuti

That's who I was going to say.
4 times live, a wonderful singer.
Most I have seen are still alive I think, I will have to do some googling and get back.

Can't be bothered to start new thread but an interesting documentary on skinheads on BBC4 at 9pm.

I only found out a few years back he sung with the group Change.

Surprised no mention for Steve Marriott or Paul Kossof . Was gonna mention Jeremy Spencer but been assured by my partner he's not dead just went a bit odd. Must google it later when the skinhead thing finishes

Plenty of those already mentioned, surprised nobody has mentioned Marvin Gaye, saw him at the Centre about 80/81

Remembered by sheer coincidence of a youtube playlist that I saw Mark Spoon of the top ten scoring Jam & Spoon live before he died. At least they charted, unlike the girlband wan.

I've a feeling the average age on NSC has increased as the site gets older, based on how long ago the bigger names mentioned died.

Didn't see Kossoff but did see Andy Fraser's band, Sharks. Andy Fraser is also no longer with us

One of the saddest things about this thread is not that so many musicians I've seen are dead, but that I saw most of them with my mate, John, who died a few years back at the age of 54. He was a walking encyclopedia of music, with a record collection that filled a room. This thread is bringing back memories of him
