I think something has been lost in translation somewhere as the first bit (From the player's environment they want BOCA to keep a % in a future sale) can be read as the player is keen to see Boca have a sell on clause.

A deal like this, we should say to Man City 'back off and we give you first refusal'.
They know the player is going to be well coached and if we do sell him they get first dibs.
Decent sell on for Boca, six month loan until Christmas. Win win.

Effectively he doesn’t want to leave by another club paying the release clause as it means he leaves and Boca don’t benefit in the future. He wants to leave via a ‘normal’ deal, not a release clause. A deal whereby a sell on fee can be included so that Boca can benefit in future like Caicedo’s old club have now.

I’m guessing that’s why we offered below the release clause because we’ve probably included a sell on % in our offer.

Boca are an absolutely gigantic club in South America, he’s more than likely a Boca fan and wants to protect their best interests long term. Which does sound like he passes the no dickhead policy.

Won't work. The club will just release a name of a non target as a distraction and get on with their business quietly as it has been in the past.

Thing is we would have the background to any deal, who has an interest financially and so on. We have proven we get deals over the line. Someone coming in on our backs are unlikely to be able to deal quickly.

We shouldn't forget our ability to get the deals done.

That plan - waiting to see who Brighton are trying to sign and go in and gazump them by bidding a couple of £M more and offering bigger wages - has already been suggested by several pundits on various outlets. Talksport for one. Makes a lot of sense - unfortunately!

Bringing them in is just part of it. It's what you do with the new recruits that really counts.

Another club might gazump us on our targets but will they be able to embed them in the same way?
