How utterly sad. I've always truly admired her determination to keep coming back despite a string of health setbacks throughout her career. Always looked out for her at Wimbledon in the hope that she might find a level of fitness to support her talent, tenacity and ability. Shocked by her passing as I trawled through so many upbeat, happy comments about our beloved football team.

RIP Elena, I remember her as a little child coming over to England with her parents, her Dad had just signed for Ipswich and they moved into a rented house around the corner from us. Really saddened by the news.

Truly awful news, I hadn't realised she was so close to passing away, it only seems like a few months since she had been forced to retire. Such a brave and determined person, rest in peace Elena.
