Looks like a big display coming up to celebrate their manufactured 160th anniversary as the self titled oldest club in English football

That their chairman is willing to promote this baseless tosh confirms their real claim as the league's saddest bunch of desperate and laughable wannabes. In the middle of the article in the Guardian that reported on their press release https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...to-claim-title-as-oldest-football-league-club are the words:

"Despite initial success the football club took a two-decade holiday from the game in 1875".

From 1875 they continued as a cricket club that didn't play football. That cricket club then merged with London Cricket Club in 1900. The new football club was formed in 1905.

So no team called Crystal Palace played football for 20 years and the cricket club, that they claim technically keeps the football club going, merged into something else a full five years before a new football club was formed. The claim that the two are one entity seems to be made purely on the grounds that they were both owned by the same company. Following that logic you could argue that Pampers and Pringles are the same thing because at one time they were both owned by Proctor and Gamble. Of course, your argument would quickly collapse should anyone point out that only one of the two products is generally full of the same stuff as Palace's PR team.

Just risible.

I'm mean there are better potato based snacks out there than Pringles but that's a bit harsh.
