Probably one of the most depressing and shocking films I've ever watched.

Set in inner city London, that kid on the bike at the beginning who was high on crack and shot dead that mother pushing a pram on a council estate was sick. Best part was when Harry (an old man but still very streetwise) goes to buy a gun from the drug dealing gangsters and ends up killing them.

Made a year before the London riots, it's all a bit too uncomfortably close to inner city life.

But it was excellent all the same and showed many people what people in London live like, or what can happen to people.

Can't believe I forgot Leon. Did I mention Moulin Rouge?

Some recent films that need to stand the test of time before I feel comfortable putting them in my top list (I should probably move Avengers and the last Nolan Batman over to this list too):
Les Miserable
The Muppets
Skyfall
Ted

The Hobbit may join the list when all three are out and the whole story can be judged, knowing what is ultimately relevant.
The Guard

Not necessarily favourite films, but have recently watched the original Swedish cersion of "The girl with the Dragon tattoo" and both its sequels. Stunning, and much better than the American version, which in itself was very good.
