IMG_1533.PNGSo it was 20 years ago today that Reinelt scored the most important goal in the clubs history. It was a horrible trip to Hereford and the locals were spoiling for a fight afterwards. However after the emotion of the last game at the Goldstone the previous week the joy and relief was immeasurable. None of us knew what the future would bring. I doubt many could see the Amex and premier football in our lifetime.

Also amazing table the following season (97-98). 4 of the bottom 5 have subsequently made it back to the PL, the other to the Championship.
While 11 of the teams above them have since played non-league football!

And Darlington 1883 (will be back to being called Darlington FC next season) are on the road to recovery - something like 3 promotions in 4 seasons. Currently near the top of the National League North, after that ludicrous 25,000 stadium debacle.
