The Open Championship 2005

The Open Championship starts at St Andrews on Thursday and this year I reckon there is only one winner - step up TIGER WOODS. Not original I know but I really can't see past Tiger and have lumped on accordingly at just under 4/1. He's now 3/1 with the bookies but a little bigger on Betfair. He is the best player in the world at the moment and victory in The Masters followed with 2nd in the US Open show he's coming right back into his best form. His weakness is his driver but he won't be needing that much this week, which plays right into his hands. His short game is the best in the world and has needed to be in the last few years to keep him in contention.
I may have a few quid on Luke Donald as well but his putting worries me at the moment a she's missing too many 4-6 footers which he can't afford to do at St Andrews.

I'm flying up there on Wednesday to watch all 4 days and can't wait. I've never been to St Andrews before and looking forward to the atmosphere. The Open at Sandwich was an amazing experience and I expect St Andrews to be just as good.

Go Tiger:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Woods still seems a bit wayward off the tee at times, and a links course will certainly test him. He'll be there or thereabouts, but there's really not much value in backing Woods at those kind of odds to win the thing. It could just as easily go absolutely tits up for him. Remember Carnoustie ?

Personally, I'll probably go for an e/w bet (top 5 finish) for a bit more of an outsider. Havn't checked the odds yet, but K J Choi is a steady player who's usually not too far off the pace. Jimenez has been playing well lately as well, and I always think Garcia is worth a sniff.

One bloke who I will NOT touch with a shitty stick is Thomas Bjorn. He hangs in there and looks the part for 3 days, but once the pressure is on, he folds faster than Superman on laundrey day. Complete bottler. I've had a couple of exasperating bets go up the swanny cos that danish twat has hit the skids just at the wrong time.

Put your money on Woods.

All the trouble on this course isnt even in play for Woods as he just hits the ball over it.
His one Open triumphcame at St Andrews where he went the whole week without hitting a bunker !

Trust me this one is in the Bag.

Is anyone able to cut and paste a list of all the runners and riders along with their odds ? I can't access any sports / betting sites from work (although the flith and debauchery on NSP gets through fine).
Thanks in advance to the kindly soul who can oblige.

Harrington has pulled out. :nono:

Goosen was about 16/1 a few days back, and he's my dark horse. But I'd love to see Garcia make it.

Paired with Tom Watson & Jack Nicklaus for the first 2 rounds, should give him a lot of encouragement.

I saw that last night, I think that pairing may hinder him rather than help him.

Padraig Harrington has dropped out, one of his parents as died (I cannot remember which).

I hope my chewing gum is still under my seat next season. I've only had it a year.

Saw Harrington pulled out - great shame for the tournament but fully understandable under the circumstances.
