Yes, he's a supporter of Israeli war crimes against the Palestinian people, and while we all know brown coloured people in far off lands don't matter, I don't want his money and I don't want any political party funded by the squalid corruption of donations of businessmen buying influence. Bernie Sanders in the US has shown us the way, the most money raised by small donations from ordinary people - that's true democracy

As you seem so well researched on this subject, do you have any idea why Labour accepted Foster's £261,028 towards their last General Election campaign? If he is as you suggest, why would they not reject the money? Or are they just not as principled as your goodself?

Yes, the party had a different leadership and the New Labour culture of buying influence in political parties was still strong then, even though Miliband was gradually moving away from it. It's an interesting question about whether Corbyn would accept his money now (it's not personally up to him but to employed party managers under the direction of NEC) happily we don't seem to be so popular with those types now, so problem solved. As we are on our way to becoming a million member party, replicating the Sanders funding model is entirely within our reach

Cleanest money in politics, of course I do. This is money from DEMOCRATIC institutions of ordinary working class people, not the personal private interests of businessman buying undue influence

The funny thing is being against businessmen buying money in politics (you know, the kind of thing seen in many a dystopian sci fi plot these days) is regarded as a loony, hard left idea. Genuine question - what the **** happened to you liberals? What do you stand for? What are your ideas of cleaning up politics from selfish, private interests?

On the contrary, Scottish Labour with their long held commitment to socialism gave up on labour years ago. They saw through the Blairite illusion first in labour terms, and they want a return to old Labour Party values, not Tory millionaires like Eddie Izzard waffling on about how many marathons they have run.

I have had some fun on here, baiting right wing loonies (and having some nice chats with folk to the right of me). But I shake my head sadly at comments like the above about Izzard. This bloke has campaigned eloquently and passionately for the labour cause for many years. And you sneer at him, for what? Being middle class and well off? Attitudes like that is what will keep Labour comfortably in opposition for the time being.

As a middle class, comfortably off, erstwhile labour supporter (albeit of working class roots, and having worked hard all my life for my lot, and having little time for Red Jezza Leninspart's form of shit leadership and complete policy vaccum) I regard your pathetic sniping at a very decent eloquent bloke utterly 'Class War' (the political equivalent of penis envy).

As for the Trade Union version of labour, my union, as I have mentioned more than once, is supposed to be protecting the future of its members (university academics like wot I am), but they are forever grandstanding about things that don't concern them, like the prospects of folk not yet employed in the sector (what?) and a few years back, crowing about their 'stop the war' banner in Trafalgar Square. The idea of unions is great. Industrial action - its the only weapon we have, isn't it. Unfortunately unions attract the same sort of idiots as any other power group, deluded, power hungry, exclusive shysters. Not all, of course. But far too many.

Taking money off trade unions to finance the party is why the party has always been emotionally in hock to the unions. Until Mr Tony came along. I still like Mr Tony. The 'war' may have had no exit strategy, but it was not illegal. There is no amount of shouting, bullying or bricks through my window that will change my mind. :bigwave:

From baiting right-wing loonies to swallowing all their ideas - the sad fate of the modern centrist "moderate" :bigwave:

In you reply which quotes me, we both have wavy emoticons, and they are waving in unison. Now that's freaky. I'll put one at the end of this reply.

I must take you up on your pejorative language. First, 'swallow' makes it sound like I injest ideas through my face hole. Actually I listen and consider, uning my ear hole, and my brain-piece.

Next, you say 'all' their ideas. You always, always generalise, don't you? I have always said so ;-)

Finally I am not a 'moderate' centrist. I am a MILITANT centrist. I will fight to the death for the right to consider other viewpoints, and to negiociate an arrangement that best fits the needs of the majority. And I'll swing for any ******* that disagrees, mark my words

Now you've jumped the shark. You think Len and Mark hand their member's money over without any wish to buy influence?

I will sneer at anyone who sets themselves up as having Labour Party values, yet actually supports free market capitalism.

I have taken this line with the labour supporting Tories on here for years, yourself included I suspect.

If you want to p!ss your pants because I treat Saint Eddie the same way that's your problem not mine. Izzard is just another political labour celebrity motormouth that has absolutely no political bottom. He is no different from those vacuous capitalist shills in the PLP like Tristram Hunt, Luciana Berger, Harriet Harman, Peter Mandelson, Shaun Woodward and all the other minions who have taken a great big shit on the working class for years.

Shake your head all you like the Labour Party is clearing out the dead wood, time for you to toddle off to the Tories where you belong.

My union appears quite happy to drop its affiliation with Labour albeit due to a merger.

I'm a union member and wouldn't dream of voting for Corbyn so am quite happy.

Political parties need 3 things to make change.

1) Members
2) MPs
3) Votes at the ballot box.

Seeing as Corbyn obviously thinks 2) and 3) don't matter - that's a lesser form of democracy I don't subscribe to.

He has effectively turned Labour in a private members club.

The romantic in me genuinely thinks the the world Corbyn wants would make the country a happier place. Unfortunately it doesn't exist and never will in my lifetime.

You have ignored the question twice. I'll try again. Have you ever voted Labour Fergus?

Yeah Izzard. WAFC. Only raised a £1 million for Charity running marathons like a champagne swigging Tory.

If only he sneered at other people with left leaning views from behind a keyboard instead. Wouldn't the world be a better place?
