2016: 48% voted Remain - "you lost, fair and square, get over it, brexit means brexit"

2019: 45% vote Tory - "its a crushing victory, huge mandate, clearly shows the people still want brexit."

Has ever been thus, but **** our democracy is broken if a minority vote can get you such a big majority

If we legitimately had a two party state, you would have a point.

A majestic night and the currency trading has bourne that out, up to $1.35 against the dollar, €1.20 against the Euro. Now lets get Brexit done and make Britain Great again.

I just hope for everyone's sake that 'Get Brexit Done' isn't viewed in the same way as 'Let's spend £350 million a week on the NHS' 3.5 years down the line.

We’re leaving in Jan but with the ERG losing their balance of power, no deal must be off the table now. The 11 month window for reaching trade deals will hopefully look something like 5 to 7 years if negotiators do what is best for the Country. So nothing is essentially going to change for a long time. Brexit will officially begin on the 31st Jan, not end.

Corbyn is definitely the reason. I can't believe a mining area like Blythe voted Tory, places like Redcar, Dewsbury, Don Valley etc have gone Tory. Their forefathers will be turning in their graves

and yet he is going to stay on to manage the transition.

The country has overwhelming rejected the proposition of a GLC government.
The nationalisation programme and lots of fee stuff, has persuaded no one. Free stuff is shit, there is no point in complaining about it, what are they going to do, give you your money back?
The country wants leadership not high brow principles.
For the many not the Jews, has stuck and whoever follows Corbyn, needs to work tirelessly to rebuild the trust.

I am well aware. I personally believe that each 'cycle' of negotiation will entail negotiating an extension to the 'implementation period', 'a new divorce bill for that period' and further 'no deal' threats in order to get a good deal :glare:

I will be stunned if that takes under 10 years. The comparatively simple Canada deal has been ongoing for over 10 years, isn't fully implemented and has no aspect of services (over 80% of British GDP). And that is completely ignoring his 'no paperwork' border in the Irish sea.

But Johnson and the majority in Britain believe it will take 11 months, so we'll have to wait and see who is closer to the truth

But that's all for another day. Today is a day for the winners to celebrate.
