anyone else think it might be over for the cycle? feels like 2018 prepare for a long bleed out of holdings. we have had a parabolic blow off for Alts, 50-100x on multiple coins on the year.

Possibly, although possibly the traditional crypto cycle may be over/different this time. As it becomes increasingly mainstream, it will be affected more by mainstream/macro events.

its already been different, two peaks back to back in 7 months. i made and lost a considerable amount twice, still up over double Jul low off the back of so many alt moons. still in but a relief to drop those bags.

while digging for recovery plays, so many tokens had a peak around two weeks ago, and another cluster end of the week. looking back it was inevitable, most hit a peak and drifted down for couple of weeks, exhaustion. only holds out there are Luna and Matic.

best bit of advice ive heard past week: if your coin doesnt bounce back after a major drop, there's no real bid, a lack of conviction in that project. its just tracking the market.

I have bought more QRDO and ALBT this morning.
I am also keeping a close eye on OBOT, which is starting to look very cheap given they have a working supply chain solution.

i get sick and tired of the so called experts - and there are quite a few of them on YT - many real professionally who charge for their services and just 2months ago it was Gaming Cryptos this and gaming cryptos that. bought about 3ks worth (Enjin, Mana, Sand, Ant and few others) but every one is down around 33%. Currently the only coin im in profit one (sighs..) is Matic - bought the majority of my holding at $1.08 after the september dump of most coins - so nearly 100% up on that .

One question i have for those who a more expert than me (probably 99% of people reading this!!) . It seems by the time alt coins come to Kraken or Binance they've already made most of their gains. There seems to be a pattern of initial FOMO buying after launch followed by a downtrend. So is there an "easyish" platform to get in that does get these coins early? Some of the latest coins its mind-blowing - you need to get a Metamask (???!) installed, buy say Kava or something then stake them and earn rewards in the new coins. Lot of faff but i guess it must be profitable. I'm just fearful of getting into something that may give big rewards but your money is tied u for years and if the project fails you lose everything.

Ideas/recommendations please..

it *was* gaming a few months ago. they had risen multiples since the summer. made thousands on some of these. too bad the youtubers tell you when its on the second, third leg, near the top. how it works: if a youtubeer shills something and it pumps massively... you just missed the pump, but it might go up more because its a good project, or big marketing budget (expect more shilling). if youtuber shills and it doesnt pump, probably means its near the top. so they sometimes hit a gem, because everyone else is on it too, sometimes they get lucky, sometimes on a good wave, sometimes you're just exit liquidty. you dont know until a month or two later.

see my post earlier, im not a expert but i am a veteran, coins have been sinking back for a month or so. dont know if this is July 2021 (cathcing breath ready for another pump), or 2018 (slow bleed out). my trading funds mostly in tether right now. cool down, take time, watch the charts.

Stop living in the moment and live for the future.

If you hold onto all of those coins they will eventually get back to the prices you paid for them and then increase in value over time.

There's youtubers who talk about what you have described all the time.

EllioTrades is a good one for NFTs/Gaming as he's the founder of the project SuperFarm and works a lot with people in that sector. Crypto Banter now has a young guy also covering the gaming sector each day on their show. Alex Becker is sometimes worth listening too on the obscure coins.

Some platforms for getting these early releases are ones like Poocoin or Gate.io.

I use kucoin, especially when things are not listed on binance. https://www.gate.io/ seem to be quick of the mark to list.

Metamask is not that difficult to master.

  • Make sure that you are running all the latest security patches and AV on whatever device and browser you are going to use.
  • Make absolutely sure you have written down and safely stored the recovery phrase. Don't rush past this it is important
  • Take some time to understand the relationship between networks and contract addresses.

There are two reasons this last step is important.
  1. If you send the tokens to the wrong address, you will not receive them in your wallet
  2. erc20 - ethereum means high gas fees. If you have a choice use another network

For the same transaction you can easily pay £300 on ethereum network (erc20) versus around 10p on binance smart chain (bep20)
There are two things you can do to work out your options here.

  • From your Exchange account start the process to withdraw a currency, if there are multiple addresses available you can choose which network to use
  • You can also use coinmarketcap to find out if a currency has multiple contract addresses

There is an example here https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/formation-fi/
Under contracts you can see the erc20 address and under more the BEP20 address is listed.
I do not recommend you buy formation.fi it is the worst performer in my portfolio.

If you have got this far (I don't think you have the patience for this), you now have the opportunity to trade off exchanges. A couple of options again on binance smart chain
https://pancakeswap.finance/swaphttps://app.1inch.io/#/56/swap/1INCH/BNB
If you are looking for early opportunities for coins not listed, these can be good options, you can also swap directly via metamask, which will try and locate the best swap rate for you.
If what you want is not listed, if you are very careful to check the contract address on coinmarketcap, you can add it yourself and then make the swap. Be careful though unverified addresses mean you could be swapping for something worthless.

I bought https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/milc-platform/, around May/June time via a swap at 3.8p. I sold 50% at 24p and through staking and providing liquidity (LP) https://app.mantradao.com/stakingI am a couple of months away from accumulating the 50% I sold.

This is not going to work if you are looking for an adrenaline surge, but even in the current downturn, this has returned 700% for me in 6 months.
My worst performer (formation.fi) I am down 50%, using the same strategy. I am just going to sit on this now and wait a few more months to see if they can turn things around.

Falmer, soon...
I avoid a lot of these issues by being very clear on the market i am targeting. In my case infrastructure. Understanding the market allows me to balance risks and give me an idea of long term value.
Gaming, nft, defi, arent areas I understand well so any money going in those direction is as good as going to a casino.
If you know your market and believe in the coin you can get in early. Chasing others' recommendations isnt smart IMHO.

for those still solvent, this is very interesting level for BTC, 2.168 fib from the 2017 high, and consisent resistance/support line since Feb. bounce for strong year end, or falls through to goblin town. place your bets.
