Yes, but as I've said before, I genuinely believe our club needs to review its whole player recruitment strategy - that means budgets (transfer fees, wage structure, etc.), timelines, staff involved (DB and his team), etc. etc. How many deals must we fail to get over the line before Tony says enough is enough? Personally, I think this window (so far), and the one before, have been shocking as far as player acquisition is concerned.

My understanding is that Tony is very hands on when it comes to player negotiations, so he is fully aware, perhaps too hands on?

Have we actually lost out on Clayton yet? For all we know Boro might have matched our offer & he's meeting both clubs. Burke was in Huddersfield yesterday, which supports that

Was he? How do you know that?

The same thing had crossed my mind. He hasn't signed for either club yet.

From an Argus article this morning

Clayton appears to have been captured by Boro for a £1.5 million fee rising to a potential £2 million.

He was not involved in Huddersfield’s home friendly against Newcastle last night which, according to a source in Yorkshire, was due to be attended by Albion’s recruitment manager.

Sky saying Boro have agreed a deal with Clayton who are now in pole to sign him, so no he has not actually signed yet , on the same page we are now closing in on Stephen Ward so ile wait for the official SWOOP before i discount or count on anything

To be fair Argus not got the best record at the moment have they.....

I think, however, the fact he can stay up north will be the reason he signs for boro.

Seems Boro are offering cash plus player. Maybe Burke can raise the stakes with an extra suitcase of cash

As always, if Clayton joins Boro, then its about how we react to it. It seems obvious we are missing out on targets (bloom saying it is frustrating) but we cant just give up. We have to pick ourselves up and onto the next target. You never know he might just be the find of the season (Im allowed to dream aint I:rolleyes:)

Clayton's agent must be in heaven having two bids accepted (if this is true). I fully expect Clayton to sign for Boro but it may take some time as the agent uses our interest to rack up the personal terms and his/her own big fat slice of the pie.
