watching ssn, the wolfman has spent his day off helping out charities and playing football with disabled kiddies and looking like he's enjoyed it. I know he's had grief for what he did but nuff respect ( as the youth say) that is all, oh by the way, i heard a rumour about michael owen....

Respect for that? Something that most footballers are encouraged to do/contracted to do?

Millions of people, worldwide, do that sort of thing for little or no recompense or at their own cost. He is getting paid £1m+ a month. The very, very, very least he could do. He might have enjoyed more of that sort of thing had he not retired to Argentina (temporarily) to play golf after being 'treated like a dog'.

To gain respect, one must earn it. He has a lot of catching up to do, in my humble opinion.

'Tevez being a decent bloke'!!

I think you meant to title your thread: 'Tevez pressured by his club to get involved in some contrived, heavily media-covered faux community spirited bollox in an attempt to win over his numerous detractors so that the aforementioned club Man City will have a better chance of selling him in the summer as he proves himself not to be some sulky, difficult, work-shy f***, but actually the re-incarnation of Mother Teresa and Ghandi combined'

I had thought that many football clubs and players get involved in a lot of these things.
Fair play I suppose, if they do it in a spirit befitting the occasion (some are a little removed from the spirit, as Balotelli might find it a reach).
That they are contracted to be doing *something* by their clubs, and perhaps not doing pushups, sprints, jogs, passing practice, slaloming around cones etc - anything else is a blessed relief!
I wonder if they do it in their spare time? That being the case, if WE are going to judge harshly then we had better be doing something ourselves...and if we are then we still ought not to look down the nose at someone who is also getting involved.
