Doesn't gel. Plays more like a wing-back. I've not seen enough of him to tell. He may be quite a good player though, may even be a very good player.

Or play a proper 4-5-1 formation like Man City do and play 3 central midfielders and 2 wingers who defend wide and push on in support like:

A very strong side and the one I would prefer for home games with Vicente in for Sparrow. The effectiveness in which Sunderland had with five in midfield against Arsenal was very pronounced and it appeared an easy system to play, with opportunities to quickly shift to a 4-4-2 which why I put Barnes in midfield. It may lead to Vokes playing upfront, and I prefer Macca.
