Until recently I worked in HR of a large nation company, no P45, you paid base rate tax on everything you earn.
If this is a second job, you’ve probably used up all your tax allowance on that main job.

If you take a second job doing a bit on the side as self employed, you can earn £1000 tax free.

Thanks Mike. Yes, sadly got made redundant a few years back and have been self-employed since. Work has slowly dried up since Covid though

When I first got married I had three jobs. Main factory work, pizza delivery and security. No social life, still had no money so made a career change. I then worked a stupid amount of hours as self employed, still had no social life or money, but the bills were being paid. As you get older, things become easier financially....until you have kids. Damn those things are expensive. Then they grow up and leave home and then ask to borrow money to cover bills as their two jobs have furloughed them!
