Albion manager Gus Poyet today hinted the club are close to signing more players in the foreseeable future.
The club has secured three new recruits this week - Matt Sparrow, Agustin Battipiedi and Cristian Baz - and the Uruguayan told seagulls.co.uk, "We are close to possibly signing three players, but especially two.
"It's been a strange summer so far though. All the players seem to have a few options and their agents push them one way or another, so it's not easy to finalise deals.
"But the next two signings are the important ones in terms of positions on the pitch and the experience they have, and what they will bring to the team."
The 42-year-old is embarking on the first pre-season programme of his managerial career, and is warning the players of tougher days to come.
"Pre-season is key. It's the base for the whole season and in the afternoons there is plenty of work to do, but to be fair, the players are very good.
"We were talking at the end of last season about programmes, and we have been reminding the players because if you come in with no work over the summer, you will suffer.
"Some of them think it's easy, but all the best! They want to see what I have got planned for Friday and Saturday, because they will hate the coach for sure!
Meanwhile, Inigo Calderon was fully involved in today's sessions after recovering from his hip injury, but Poyet is keeping a watchful eye over the flamboyant Spaniard.
"It's been a hard summer for Calde. All the other players have enjoyed time off, but for Calde it has been totally opposite, a non-stop summer.
"He has been going to see doctors, specialists, and working in the pool. We don't want him to work too hard though, because we have plenty of time to get him fit."
