I have always had a thing for nurses, but this is now on a different level, and doctors of course.

We tip waitresses, cabbies, posties and hairdressers, but why don't we tip the nurses, cleaners and porters and the lower-paid people on the front line?

We thanked the checkout operator at our local supermarket yesterday for coming to work.
She was made up and said we were the first people to say that.
