Actually can I sit on saturday with some of you guys (algie always sounds a barrel of fun in particular) so that when leicester score I can jump up and applaud and shout 'bravo, bravo well played hammond'?

i thought our keeper could of done much better with both goals

I agree. I don't see the point in complaining about time wasting when we wasted the whole first half passing it around our back four. Maybe if we had tried to attack, we could have gone in front and put pressure on them.

Their first goal was horrendous defending and the second wasn't much better.

We won't see a worse piece of defending all season than we did for that first goal. Jesus wept. Four players culpable including the goalkeeper. Shocking at this level.

That said, Barnsley did everything right. But it should have been dealt with comfortably.

Wow, Pele must be older than I thought if he played during ww2! Maybe there is something to Viagra after all.

Another half wit from the I bet you'd.... You're the kind who... Brigade.

I tend to enjoy the football whether we win or lose because I can be objective. If that makes me a bad fan in your eyes then so what, couldn't care less. It's just a game dear.

For those still making assumptions, I shout and sing and support the team thanks!

By the way, my reply was written in a light-hearted way. No offence intended.

Are you sure? But Upson won Man of the Match award

I regularly clap opponents goals. Think it's a bit pathetic if you can't do that.

I don't. But I'll put my hand together once in admiration if it's due, and give it due credit when CHATTING with whichever mate I'm with immediately following the goal.

But I've never stood roundly applauding an opposition goal.

Two goals of individual skill and style. We didn't have players like McCourt and Mellis who can, you know, dribble. And go past players without passing it around them.

Hopefully Oscar saw the type of player we're clearly lacking.

Agree entirely.
Take their goals out of it and they were still the best two players on the pitch. Mccourt is exactly what we could do with.
Bet Barnsley couldn't believe their luck though when they realised we were going to effectively play 5 at the back and one up front against them. You could see the confidence of their players building and building once the game had settled and they realised how we were set up.
Ince for Saturday please.

This, just because you are disappointed we have conceded a goal does not mean you cannot appreciate some good play from the opposition. In fact I quite regularly applaud all sorts of opposition actions, if someone does something impressive they deserve applause.

This is speaking as probably the only person who was in the North Stand centre who has a sore throat from singing this morning. So hopefully I will not be labelled as a bad fan

Their second goal was great, and credit to them in that they saw the opportunity and took it. They played really well for 80 minutes and deserved to win.

However, for the first 10 minutes they looked awful. I sat there and thought 'excellent, we'll beat this lot.' And then we sat back, we didn't press them, we made casual errors and we started to fuel their confidence. You could see Barnsley grow in belief. The defence was delighted they only had one striker to deal with, and even he was only holding the ball up for non-existent runners. Their midfield was delighted that our midfield didn't exist and that Bridcutt appeared to be playing as part of a back 5. And so the seeds were sown.

Fair play to Barnsley. After 10 minutes they clearly thought that we looked laboured, disorganised and there for the taking.

I did wonder who was singing that lovely Tykes song from the North Stand :)

Totally agree. First 10 or 15mins they looked very ordinary. But our energy and pressing was almost none existent. If you had one of those MotD circles that shows the space around each player on the ball, Barnsley would have looked like a crop circle photo. No closing down from us, it was like gifting them the freedom of the Amex. You could almost see the moment they sensed, 'hang on, we can play through them here'. It was very poor from us, any praise of them has to be tempered with our play. I can take us playing poorly with things going astray, but last night just looked like a lack of application to me.

Barnsley played very well last night. Way more adventurous than I thought they'd be. They deserved the win and in McCourt had the best player on the pitch.

Our back four worries me immensely. Ageing, slow and under performing with no one pushing them for places. We always look likely to concede and PIG has been keeping the goals against down. When the better players return they will take the pressure of the back 4 but it needs urgent attention soon.

Too often it seems people forget there are two teams playing and that they will be there trying to stop us doing what we want to with the ball

But we are not talking about the likes of Bournemouth who pressed and harried and gave us no time....we are talking about a Barnsley team who were allowed to play with growing confidence due to our ridiculous defensively biased set up and a nonchalant arrogance of pending victory. I think there is a big difference.
