Doesn't sound like a deal that will be done before the very end of the window if there are a number of interested clubs.

I'd be genuinely stunned if we were in the game. I just don't think we're in that sort of ballpark when it comes to fees.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome him with open arms if, in some strange parallel dimension, it happened. Can't see it though :)

I think you might be just a little too late. Rumour has it that he's not only smitten with Kerry Katona, but they are already into spanky games!

I'd be surprised if we do, but it would be a massive statement of intent from the board and I'd welcome him on board.

Those sort of wages are suicidal in the Championship.

Completely concur and I suspect the club felt their fingers burnt by CMS as that was a huge outlay in wages and transfer fees for not that much at the end of the day

i would hope the lesson learnt was to spend on proven goal scorers at this level, not avoid spending just in case it doesnt work out.

I was listening to the commentator on the stream v. Blackburn and he kept mentioning that Rhodes is anonymous most games until he pops up with a goal. He pops up with a fair few of course but it may be that PL clubs don't want to fork out for an unproven (at that level) player who doesn't get involved unless the goal is in sight.

That's always been my opinion of him. Every time I see him play he looks shit but then I keep seeing his name on the scoresheet and I wonder where it comes from.

I have a feeling the interest by us is genuine. I don't know why I think it because I he has never convinced me when I have seen him play but as I said in another post, we have nowhere near breached the budget we have or this transfer window yet so there must be something substantial to come. Perhaps this is it.

Cant say I am overly excited by it but nows the time to make the move

Thats pretty much as I said earlier. The length of.his blackburn contract suggests it would be a very expensive option

Ridgewell at Portland? Certainly no-one registered to us. Highest paid player is over £20k a week but nowhere near that ridiculous figure. And yes I do know this.

I said previously somewhere on another thread that ridgewell is on around $1m a year at his parent club so I would imagine our outlay.wouldnt be much higher than that

The highest paid player will be Bobby. Don't know what it is but he will be the highest by a distance

I would imagine Beram Kayal will be on a decent wage, he would have been at Celtic and I don't imagine he took a wage cut to join the mighty seagulls.

How does anyone know Jordan Rhodes is on 42k a week anyway? I would have thought the only people outside of Blackburn Rovers that would know would be his agent and his accountant.

Fwiw, I think if its at all possible we should sign him, 9 goals already this season in a pretty shit team, and has scored 20+ every season he's been in the Championship, isn't that exactly what we need? A proven striker at this level?

HMRC would know it and wages dept at the club would know it and HMRC leak more info into the public domain than anyone.

There were rumours when the extension was signed that he had asked for an increase of around 750k a year and got it.

He would be incredible signing and with players returning would probably mean he's the only extra signing we need. If we could offload couple of players it would save the wages but they are the ones I'm sure we're trying to dump anyway
