In a pile of football shirts
I would never condone uneccessary force and in this instance it does sound heavy handed, one assumes that there will be some sort of action taken by the club and security team to prevent these sorts of accusations again.

However, I just watched this video, and it's not clear how heavy the force was, but watch it towards the end. I am going to have sympathy for the stewards, just look at them from around 1:10, there's a handfull of them at the front of the (large) crowd, some choice unpleasantries from the Weds fans despite being asked politely to comply with basic requests. The look on the face of the stewards (male and female) is not one of rage or pent up desire to kick shit out of people, it looks a lot more like concern and a bit of fear. I really don't think I'd fancy that job, at all, football fans can be pretty unpleasant and intimidating. Just my observation.
