Our corners today and set pieces in general were God awful to say the least. Never looked like scoring from them and I would rather have just took them short everytime instead of what we were doing. I think if we really want to a great second part of the season, simply must get better at these. Any suggestions for doing so?

How many times did they have to do the short corner routine to realise it wasn’t going to work?

We very rarely score from corners. We must have one if the worst percentage rates in the league. It does seem if teams usher us wide in open play as well, we’re pretty shite at converting.

We did have one, where we nearly scored directly from it. It may have been a shot.

Two were brain dead short corners. One was far too close to the keeper, at least two hit the first man.

Yes, poor today

One goal from a corner in 79 games I think they said on sky. Which doesn't seem right? I remember the burn one at Everton. When was the one before that ?

well look at who we've got attacking corners. dunk and webster (colwill today), sometimes veltman, and that's pretty much it. they're all aerially dominant but struggle actually getting it on target. there's basically no other aerial threat in the team. when you're looking to hit two, maximum three players in a penalty box with a minimum of 8 opposition players in it, it's always going to be a tough ask

Only just noticed? Been case since Watto and Chippy days.

We get goals in other ways. And statistically less than 2% goals come from corners according to analysts, we’re largely the only country that goes batshit when we get one apparently.

Don't think theres much wrong with most of the corners. I think chance creation from corners has been fine overall but (mainly) Webster/Dunk are quite inefficient when it comes to converting those opportunities.

How soon is now?

I read somewhere that the percentage success of scoring from corners is something like 2 or 3%. Not just us, but across the top 4 divisions.

I thought for a minute that Pascal had scored direct from one of his corners today!

You'd rather we did short corners all the time ? Are you Mad McMad from Mad Town ? No, no and thrice no. Needs to go straight in the box where one of our players might get lucky or one of the opposition players might put it through their own net. I have a memory like a goldfish but can't remember us ever scoring from a short corner.

Dunk vs Arsenal (ca 1:25 into the video):

Dunk vs Everton (1:20)

Dunk vs West Ham (1:05)

There's probably lots more from various players, I just checked twelve or so Dunk goals.

Why were we letting Solly take the majority of corners particularly in the first half? Give them back to Pascal l say, he is generally far mor accurate, and can at least beat the first man with them and get the ball into the box.

Yes poor in the extreme today.

Pretty surely there was a Naylor essay about our set piece coach when we went through a purple patch (whenever the f*** that was) and scored a couple.

Well, fair to say it was a fluke

We are also shite at throw ins. Never seem to keep possession.

…..and we’ve got a specialist ‘set piece coach‘ (Nick Stanley - he didn’t join the weasel exodus and is even on linkedIn described as ‘set play coach‘) that is (or was, under Potter) stood in the technical area bellowing instructions
