Thank you Blackadder. Can I just ask everyone to read this, think about it, and -- I do realise that this is a bit of a stretch -- act upon it.

Fundamentally I agree with this. Although I do think people make a good a good point in saying that the club have got a very fine balancing act to perform with any price rises. Blackadder is bang on, except that there are a large number of fans whom didn't experience the Withdean soakings etc and for who unfortunately - Price V Product on the pitch will be a deciding factor?

Sorry but you are forgetting one vital thing and that is that people spend their hard earned wages on season tickets and so are entitled to moan at any or all of the above if they want to.

Just because TB has funded the stadium himself for which we are all very grateful for we can't and shouldn't blindly accept it if we don't agree with something at the club.

That said I think it's very unrealistic for fans to think that ST prices won't go up.

But the moaners seeem reluctant to accept the prospect that TB and the board might not have the money to throw around and spend, spend, spend as they hoped or rather demand. Maybe they think that Bloom and Co should be having the same financial impact as the owners of Man City or Abramovich when he took over at Chelsea.

They seem more than happy for us to spend money that isn't there in a gamble for promotion (and then probably expect us to spend the Premier league windfall several times over in an attempt to stay there) just because other clubs have very wealthy backers who can afford and are willing to throw money at their club like confetti (Forest, QPR....) and their attitude and that of fans like them up and down the country are why wages are hyper inflated, and why so many clubs are so deeply in debt (just like we are already)

The moaning comes across as spoilt children demanding more and more toys and throwing a tantrum when they can't get their own way (it's not fair, Forest got some new strikers but we didn't waaah waaah waaahhh) it's easy to spend someone elses money, but it seems hard for them to accept that the club are unwilling to break the bank and gamble for promotion when it can probably be achieved by being sensible and biding our time and without risking everything that the fans and board have worked so hard to achieve (new ground, etc)

25k+ crowds don't make us a rich club, but i guess that often the moaners are just that for good reasons (to them), they are worried that we will lose that support and the crowds will drift away, starting a downward spiral so feel they need to be constantly critical of anything that they think could end up reducing our crowd size (lack of renewals) but fail to see that negativity from them can be far more damaging.

I expect that a lot of the newer fans are still really enjoying going to live games at the Amex, they enjoy the facilities and the experience and are likely to renew but the negativity at Withdean helped to convince thinks were very bad and discouraged people from going and there is a danger that this need to moan from some will start the same sequence of doubt in some people and stop people going, believing things are much worse than they really are. We have lost a couple of players and signed a couple in the transfer window, there is also the loan market to, yet because we didn't splash millions, they think that we don't have a chance to compete for the play-offs (despite having players returning from injuries like CMS who may make the difference)

I am saying that people can't moan at cost cutting, and expect Tony to keep losing money, yet not put up season ticket costs.

Why not ? Surely their costs have gone up ? As we are capped by FFP ( and why should Tony pay more anyway ), then no price rise means cost cutting, and probably a reduced playing budget.

Costs might have gone up... Have salaries though? Standard of living just keeps going backwards...

This will happen one day, the Reading match went ok and im sure the Hull one will as well, it might be too soon for next season but the season after I can see them saying prices are not going up but the travel subsidy has been removed.

cant see it largely because no one bothered getting a ticket to falmer and the train companies surely hold the aces

No-one can really argue with where the club is, and what a wonderful stadium we have, but I would imagine that we will lose season ticket holders next season as the non long term supporters choose to be able to pay on the day, and there is an element of fans who feel that perhaps they don't get value for money and all Barber goes on about every week is cost cutting etc etc. If I was a betting man I would pretty much say our st's will be going up.
You pay your money you make your choice.

I expect a lot of season ticket holders have them because they wanted to guarantee having tickets for all the matches they wanted to attend. Now that there is a surplus of seats available pretty much week-in week-out I would expect to see many people ditching their STs as they will no longer struggle to buy singles as and when they need them.

I think the number of STHs would have gone down after last season for the same reason, had the club not looked destined for the Premier League at renewal time last year.

Hopefully I am wrong though

glad i binned the begging letter i got before Christmas asking me to come back and offering me a half season ticket with a full upgrade for next season

The season ticket is, at present, a bargain compared with pay on the day. I rarely notice the £45 odd that goes out every month but i'd certainly baulk at paying over £30 for a match and some months we have 2 or 3 home games.

Unless it goes price silly, I'll keep my seat.

They will go up a bit, maybe 5%. If the club take the piss price wise, the crowds will fall - it really is as simple as that. No amount of justification in Barber's programme notes will persuade people to renew if they're wavering and they try and stick £50+ on the price.

Are there any plans to extend the east stand roof by 10-20 metres , so that it actually covers the fans in the East stand? I was sat in row X on NY day and still got wet in that row. How people pay £35 each match in rows A-S to get soaked, I will never understand
