I've got caller display on my phone. If I don't recognise the number, I don't answer. If somebody really wants to speak to me, they'll leave an answerphone message.
I'm also with the telephone preferencing service, so consequently get very few calls now.

I thought of having that but so many large companies like the banks, hospitals etc use number witheld.

Could I just put you down as a maybe ? If it's a definite no then I'll lose money and I might have to go back to work

If you really do work for SASTA, then I suggest you stop trying to wind people up, thats assuming you give a shit about the public perception of you and your colleagues.

I love trying to waste their time if I am not doing much myself. My favourite still to this day went something like this: Telephone rings:

Me: Hello
Caller: Good morning Sir, my name is Fred, have you ever thought of having a conservatory?
Me: Oh yeah, I've always wanted one but...
Caller interrupting me: Well this is your lucky day
Me: Ok, tell me about it

About 20 to 25 minutes later.....

Caller: So you are happy for me to organise a home visit from one of our specialists?
Me: Yep, no problem
Caller: Ok, can we start with your address please:
Me: Sure, First Floor Flat.....

I seem to recall getting called a very rude name indeed before he hung up :lolol:

Brilliant :clap::clap:

I like stringing the PPI, pension and life insurance sellers along..........can get a long way in before they ask 'Oh and what do you do for a living sir ?'....................'I'm in Regulatory Compliance with a major bank'.....................bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :)

Had a phone call today from BT . I didn't even realize that I had problems with my computer but these chaps were able spot bad things that had been downloaded and causing my internet to slow down . How they were able to fix this I will never know . However it is good to know that help is out there when I need it .

There are three types of call: Blocked, Allowed and Unknown. Blocked will be hung up on by the machine and you wont know. Allowed will ring all phones. Unknown will be answered by the call guardian and the caller is offered the opportunity to announce themselves; if they do, then the guardian (only) rings and you get the option to speak to them, send them to the answer machine or bar them.
You can get multiple handset versions of the guardian phones.

Would one of these phones (thebt8500 looks good value) still be worthwhile even if you aren't using BT ..I use Virgin Media
