it was a fantastic goal from Rooney, but the outporing of GUSH about it is starting to ruin my enjoyment of it

It is a beauty, but not even in the top ten of all time IMHO.

Everyone has got incredibly carried away because it's Rooney and we've been dying for him to finally rediscover some of the form of last season (until the injury in the Chumps League) and because it was in the Manc Derby.

I would be very surprised if I don't see 10 better goals THIS SEASON let alone all time.

A microcosm of the second world war probably represents a bigger grudge match than the Manchester derby...and of course Pele was nursing a serious rib injury when he scored his. Also his goal was so good it made a high ranking Nazi stand up and applaud.

I'd also add that the comeback from 4-0 down to 4-4 in Escape to Victory rather puts the Newcastle v Arsenal game in the shade, even if there was a tunnel escape from St James' Park.
