Its obvious that Savage is past it (he was when he played for us anyway). Paul Jewell knew this but Clough decides to play him every week. People know Clough's obviously not up to it and Savage is protecting him as he knows its his last chance to play at a higher level.
What exactly is wrong with the journo reporting a rumour he had heard? Why does this mean he made it up? Why would he risk his livelihood like that? It makes no sense at all.
Robbie manages to confuse the reporting of someone else's opinion, with the reporter's own opinion. He starts reeling off the backroom staff's credentials to prove the reporter's opinion wrong.
It wasn't his opinion, Robbie, that was the point. It was probably why the reporter had no reply; he couldn't believe a grown man could be that daft.
Then, having had a go at the journo for allegedly making something up, he then has a go at him for reporting the truth ("boos ringing around Pride Park"). What's it to be then, Rob? Make your mind up.
Robbie seems to suggest the local radio station should back the team, unquestioningly. Yes, great idea, except that's not freedom of the press, it's propaganda. Everything would be as dull and pointless as players' post-match interviews on Match of the Day.
Perhaps next time they lose, BBC Derby should report that they won, so as not to upset the poor boys.
