With an unfulfilled plan carried over from 2020, the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund is pleased to announce that this year's Challenge Match will be a two-legged affair.

The first leg will be at Croydon FC's ground in, er, Croydon on Friday 29th April. The return leg will be Sussex County FA Headquarters at Culver Road, Lancing three weeks later on Friday 27th May,

Entry will be a fiver - by cash or card - and everyone is welcome.

Easier for whom?

They didn't want to host it any more.

He will mean fans from the Lewes area, I have been with him any a few others from over this way, we haven’t been since it was moved away from Lewes.
Obviously the new venue is easier for fans from that area :D

I honestly didn’t know that Lewes FC didn’t want to host it anymore, maybe I missed it if mentioned on NSC.

They were happy for us to use the plastic pitches to play the game, but that was an utterly pointless gesture. They instead wanted to focus their myriad teams in using the main pitch / stadium. Hence we were turned down. This was in 2019, and not something we mentioned.

Thanks for the reply.
Hopefully it goes well at Lancing, I’ve been there to watch my son play and it’s a decent ground.

Lancing was our third choice, but we knew it as a Plan Z as the fella we dealt with there used to be the fella we dealt with a Lewes, so we didn't exactly have to sell the idea to him.

Away game is my actual wedding anniversary

Home game is good though. Culver Road is a decent non league ground.

Please note a change in date for the second match.

It will now take place on Friday 27th May - one week after the original announcement - though still at Culver Road, Lancing.

The first match is unchanged.

Brighton went one up with a cracking strike in the second half, but an over enthusiastic challenge by the Albion goalie gifted the Eagles with a penalty. Somehow he stayed on the pitch, but the penalty was scored making it 1-1.

Blumming cold at Croydon FC, but a reasonable turnout, met some decent Palace fans and expect a few to make the trip to Lancing for the second leg.

The keeper done well with some tough corners with their huge striker in the second half
